Can anyone tell me whether they had a problem with gaining weight whilst taking Pregablin?

Yes I've found I'm piling on the pounds
Unfortunately I think that's one of the side effects. I've put on 10kgs over 7 years but it could also be because I used to cycle and walk a lot.
Only a few pounds (but I'm quite small) but I'm sure this is the reason. My appetite is much increased and I feel quite ill if I try to reduce what I eat. I eat a healthy diet, lots of salad and whole grains etc.
Yes! Hunger is outrageous at times but even when eating 'normally' still manage to pile on the kgs!!
Yes,it is known to increase appetite!I was warned of this prior to taking it but hey ho I put on weight anyway!
Hello Weighty, yep I had that with lyrica which is the same it does tell you weight gain on the affects list,if you are only on it short term it shouldn't though.Hope this was helpful.Take care.
Yes I put on 21 pounds in 6 months x
Yes most definitely , I've put on a good stone. Can't decide if I want to be slimmer or in more pain. A real delemma.
I also think as you increase the dose the weight increases too 🙁

yes most definitely, don't know wether it's the tablets or the amount of food I've been eating overall (didn't have much of an appetite) or wether they play around with the metabolism,my weight has now peaked and all though I've piled the pounds on I needed to gain a little, but it was nearly 3 stones! So it should peak ay some point so it's normal with pregabalin
Hi I take gabapentin which is the same only different. I was piling on the pounds so I did a bit of research on web. I came across this theory which I could definately relate to.
The Meds don't make you put on weight but they do make you lethargic, which in turn makes you less active, plus if you're sitting around there may be a tendency to eat more. This is what makes (some) people put on weight. It was certainly true for me. I force myself to go walking now and I eat less. The pounds are coming off again and I feel a lot better. I have a disability so walking more is not easy, but it is rewarding. If walking is a major problem there may be other exercises one could do to burn calories.
Yes, I put on loads of weight with pregablin, made me feel awful too. I don't take that or gabapentin now...
It hasn't increased my appetite but I've put about 2 stone on my GP confirmed this and said I can take you off Pregabilin if you can endure the pains in your legs. Just can't win
Hello, yes I put quite a bit on quite quickly which caused problems in itself. I stopped taking them, SLOWLY, and the weight reduced quite quickly. Good luck.
Nodx
Why are you asking this question? Are you on Pregablin and having weight gain? Or is the doctor suggesting you go on Pregablin?
Whilst I have had a little bit of improvement on Pregablin my weight has shot up in the last couple of months. I am only 5 ft 2 1/2 so I am struggling with the extra weight. My appetite has not changed and I'm certainly not eating anymore.
Thanks for the reply. This sounds like something to investigate.
Is the weight gain fat? Is the weight gain water?
You are facing a complex issue. A medical consultant may make reassuring noises. The reality is the medical consultant does not know unless they measure the fat index etc. of your body.
Not everyone reacts the same to a drug. Is the drug causing water retention problems or has the micronome altered because of the drugs effect on the micronome.
Keep a food diary to confirm you have not changed your eating habits. Then speak to the GP concerning the evidence. You cannot rely on stated side effects or what others have considered side effects without doing your own investigation to how you are responding.
I put on 2.5 stone in 3 months, even thought I had bad diarrhoea for 7 of those weeks. Since I stopped the weight has almost gone without dieting. Now I've been prescribed Neurontin so hoping it will not be the same. My GP said she didn't know about the weight gain but on this site it is very common.
Just seen on the box that Neurontin is Gabapentin.
Since 2008 when I fell backwards (without realising) off a kitchen top I have acquired spinal stenosis + imminent claudication which is when you can only feel your feet and from hip upwards. I have been taking 'pregabalin' ever since. As a person who has yo-yoed with my weight all my life then I do not blame 'pregabalin'. How many miligrams do you take each day? I started with 50mg morning and 25mg. Not doing the job. My Doctor increased 50mg morning/50mg evening. Only recently I have asked for a further increase so it makes it 75mg morning/75mg evening. Appear to give me more relief, always got a blister of paracetamol in my bag. Spinal stenosis causes numbness of the buttocks plus at times I feel such a painful twinge, after walking, and placing my backside on the car seat.
