I found chiropractor no good. In fact she made me worse! But found osteopath really helped.

Also 1st physio rubbish but 2nd physio also helped.

Think very much depends on who you see!!

I suffered that pathway about thirty years ago and the treatment seemed to work for a time. I was luck we had a private health plan that covered the treatment.

They will try to sorting out that sort of problem and some are very good while some can be best avoided.

Personally I would suggest a good physio who will be able to help you and there are also operations that can give some form of relief.

In the short term an NHS Specialist, with a Physio, and some TENS training for nerve blocks.

You are the second have answered this evening, my problem with Chiro was I went for near on two years of and on Yes it worked for a time although eventually I felt that they were wearing the joints and spine. Give the NHS a chance to sort all first as it really is expensive going private.

Chiropractic manipulation is definitely not recommended for disc bulges as one wrong move could have you paralysed. It's worth seeing a physio though, as you can be shown exercise that help increase the gaps between your vertebrae which takes pressure off your nerves

No. Absolutely not, putting extra pressure and manipulating a spine with bulging discs and nerve impingement is not recommended at all. I asked advice from my physio, surgeon and pain specialist. When my MRI was reported wrongly the physio tried to massage and put pressure on my spine, apparently you could hear my scream all around the hospital department. Go back to your G.P and ask for a referral to a pain specialist

A lot of physios are fairly cack handed as learning the skill of developing sensitive hands is not part of their training. This is comparison to many in the complementary profession who are trained to have sensitive hands.

I have had physo manipulation on the NHS from a physio. The pain was horrific. This was in comparison to the manipulation from an osteopath and a McTimony chiropractor which did not hurt at all.

This is an area that you need to network with people in your local area to find out what the chiropractors in your area are like. There is no accurate answer for this. You have to trust the skill of the chiropractor. This means that there are chiropractors who will not be helpful for this problem and chiropractors who can be helpful.

Each case has to be carefully examined by the chiropractor to determine what is actually happening. The word is "actually happening".

"disc buldging which is irritating nerves" means one thing to a layman and absolutely anything to a practising chiropractor. They have to examine you in total to see what they understand is happening in your body. The irritating nerves good be tight muscles applying pressure on herves and the tight muscles need to be untightened. Bulging discs do not necessarily cause pain and discomfort. The bodies response to the bulging disc causes pain and discomfort. Each person is different in their response. Each person's bulging disc varies in size of bulge and where it is applying pressure.

Hence some person will swear by chiropractors as life savers and others dam them for all eternity.

Sorry I cannot give you an easy answer.

Hope this helps

My experience was that the chiro made mine 10 times worse. Others will disagree and say it depends how good a therapist you have but Personally I would be very careful with this decision as I was in agony and unable to move for months. My partner swears it was the chiropractors fault as it was too coincidental. I had to have surgery in the end. Awful pain that you can never describe to others.
