Iam using trepiline 25mg for my backpain . My problem is weight gain. What can I do to reduce my weight while using it and prevent hunger?

Hi there,

is your weight gain due to water retention or just eating more then you use to? it is known that it has a antidiuretic effect so if you can get your doctor to prescribe any type of diuretic that should sort it out, i take it that you are taking Amitriptyline at the same time as it it normally used to increase the effect of Amitriptyline.

Dear Poppy Ann I feel hungry most of the time now that am using Trepiline. I have diuretic for my high blood pressure. Cant cope with being obese as I need to undergo spinal fusion as soon as I loose weight. (nearly two yrs now taking Trepiline.

Hi Bethu i know where you are with this i am the same i am due a operation sometime this year but they will not carry it out unless i loose weight i worked out i am eating less than 1500 calories and i still put on weight eating is not a problem for me as it is not unusual for me to not eat for a day or two i cannot remember feeling hungry at any time but i drink a lot of tea i am even cutting down with my sugar as i always took 2 spoons in a cup but i am now down to half a level spoon now one of my meds is known to make people gain weight and as i can do very little exercise there is nothing i can do i doubt i could cut down much more on eating maybe i will have to do one or two days a week with out anything to eat and see how that works i think as long as i drink water i will be ok.

i wish you luck in loosing it i know what it is like to have back pain i have had it for close to 30 years since i broke it in the army.
