Hi,

I'm only 22 but I have very bad menstrual cycles,

I'm always on for 7 days and extremely heavy to the point I cannot move and (not to be crude) have to wear 6 pads and a tampon at one time,I also get a very high temp.

I have just started a new job and I don't want this to affect it like previous jobs as I get so drained and sometimes I cannot sit up. I went to the dr's two years straight and they did nothing! Nothing seems to work.

Hi CW1990, last year I went through this last year, went to the GP. This was August and September 2012. My periods were incredibly heavy every 30mins/60mins had to change pads (the huge nighttime type) and tampons for 3 whole weeks. Then a break of one week and the cycle started all over again. Dr gave me some tablets. Took two days to stop my period and continued taking tabs and no period for a fortnight, started again once I stopped taking tabs.

Anyway - after various tests etc, I was ok nothing wrong. They took blood tests in case I was anemic etc and smears. I went onto a lower dose of the same tab prescribed and it's great now :)

Basically I recommend you persist with your GP. See if you can see a female GP.

Hello,

Thank you for taking your time to help me I've been put on all sorts of tablets yet only made things worse I was anemic when I was a teenager but all that's fine now!

It's just a case of wanting to know as many people I have spoken to feel I have a number of things yet only the one person we need to diagnose me wont! I have now moved so hopefully I get more luck with this Doctor as my previous crossed the line when she failed to diagnose my mother with E-coli!!

Thank you for your help

My mother (terminal) our GP (different doc) almost killed my mother last year :( so know the feeling. The cancer had grown and blocked her duodenum so my mother was starving and dehydrated and after 3 months we went to a Consultant and my mother was rushed straight into surgery to put a stent in etc. At all the GP visits prior to this said - it will pass and see you in six months. She had to be fed through her neck directly into the blood stream etc.

I'm now seeing a woman GP and her specialism is gynecology etc...

yes you need to see a gynae. i had this at one point and a mirena coil( progesterone) stopped this problem no peroids as can the mini pill cerazette, but you need a proper medical opinion as you may have fibroids etc?

Hello,

Do check to rule out Endometriosis. Your symptoms sound very familiar.

My advice would be that you write down exactly how you feel and what is happening to you just before, during and after your period, all the changes you experience and all the meds and vitamins (even if it's just loads of coffee) you need to take to keep you going or even to help you feel half way normal and present this list to your GP at your next visit.

Insist that they upload the information to your file, refer them to your previous visits and if all fails, state that you have been forced to search the web for help and would like to be referred to a specialist to rule out the possibility of Fibroids, Endometriosis, Polycistic Ovaries and anything else that could potentially impact negatively on your ability to conceive or have children.

Try not to worry too much about work for now, it's more important that you are proactive about finding a solution to this problem and maintaining a positive 'can do' attitude.

Enjoy your new job and remember that life is a puzzle and the ability to problem solve is the key to success. Wishing you well.

you definitely need to see a gynae. I had this problem several years ago and it turned out to be fibroids. With such heavy periods you will feel drained as I did and I did not want to go out anywhere when I had a period in case I (leaked) on my clothes it was that heavy and the pain had me in tears I dreaded them. Hope you find a solution soon.

Hello,

I agree with no-one and cazzyme, you need to see a Consultant Gynaecologist....

and especially with Reykua as it sounds like endo.

May I suggest you check your symptoms against those listed on endometriosis-uk.org then, when you go to your GP he/she will know you really are seeking answers.

Should you find a lot of your symptoms on that list -- don't despair as endo can be treated

but the sooner the better. We can empathise with you and want you to be better hon!
