Ovarian Cancer Study

Last week I made the journey north to Huddersfield to attend a nurses study day on ovarian cancer. The whole day was taken up with many different aspects of ovarian cancer. There were talks from a Pathologist, a Gynae/oncology surgeon, an Oncologist and a Radiologist to name but a few. The nurses were mainly from Yorkshire, ranging from specialist gynae/oncolgy nurse to nurses working in outpatients. It was a very full day and we all learnt a lot. The talk by the radiologist I found particularly interesting, where she spoke about how they distinguish different types of masses from scans and decide whether they are more likely to be cancer.

There was even a chance to get Ovacome known about, as quite a lot of literature was taken. It also meant that my journey home was rather lighter than the journey up north. Many thanks to Pat and her team for organising such a useful day. Ruth Payne
