My hair journey......

I haven't had short hair since I was 21, but I decided to have one last salon experience before my hair fell out. Off I went to see my fabuous hairdresser Simon whose words still ring in my ears ...."Did you see Rhianna on X-factor last night? We're going to do a Rhianna!". So with Diamonds in the Sky ringing in my ears that's just what he did and I loved it, so much so that my wig that was prepped pre hair loss now feels too long - so it will be back to Simon we go to sort out "Tia"!

Now I have a few spikes left but quite like my balding head, its very cool for the hot flushes and doesn't require a hairdrier, although I am a sucker for hair products and miss all that stuff. My big sis has been showing people her new sister on a picture and I have had lots of lovely compliments but don't think I'll be brave enough to go out without my hat just yet, but do you know what I really want to!!! Happy New Year everyone - love you all lots xxxx

Wow you do look great, as I thought! And I know exactly what you mean about the hot flushes. Think of the money when it comes to the hair products is all I can say - although habits die hard.. I still find I use a drop of shampoo on my head, and take a second towel to wrap around my head after the shower!

I still use shampoo and conditioner as well, but no gel or mousse - would be a bit much for the wee spikes!

You look fab, and with a smile like that you would look great with any hair style!

I still use shampoo, as oddly enough I still get the odd flake of dandruff if I use anything else on my scalp.

Hi Madz

Love the photo you like me are comfortable with your new hair. I still wash my hair but I use baby shampoo . I gave my daughter all the shampoo I had in the cupboard. I know once mine grows a bit more I will want to dye it as Im now white and I don't like the colour. Lets hope a few more ladies post pictures.

Wow! A great picture! Now expeiment with glam scarves to build elaborate turbans and exotic head dresses! You would suit the exotic "bird of paradise" look!

Blown away by how terrific you look Madz! Much more glamourous and healthy looking than those starved looking models you see in magazines. I've often wondered why designers and photographers think fashion will sell better if the models look miserable. Beats me.

You look great!

A friend of mine had chemo about 40 years ago and when she stopped wearing her wig- her hair was just growing back- she took to wearing large dangly earrings. How about trying that- with or without Margaret's exotic headgear!!

You look fantastic Amanda.

I also used to shampoo my scalp when I had no hair because it did get flaky. Apart from that it was no bad thing to be free of the blow drying and the rest when I didn't have much energy.

Have a great New Year.

Thank you for all your encouragement, having just come out of a 2 day post chemo lethargy I feel "right perky" now! Xxxx

You look absolutely fab. I must get my photo on here but not sure how.

I use oilatum for scalp as mine was very dry and flakey. I comes in tiny 20ml bottles but you only need a drop the size of a pea.

I don't use my hats or wig now unless it's very cold, in the beginning I wouldn't have opened the door without some sort of headgear.
