has anyone experienced, abddo and wind pain on weekly taxol?

Hi Soapsuds,

I see noone has responded to you. I have a Macmillan fact sheet 2011 on Paclitaxel and carboplatin chemo (TaxolCarbo). It was given to me by chemo nurse and she went through it with me before I started my chemo. Under less common side effects it says about Abdominal Pain, "This may start a few days after having paclitaxel and last for a few days. Your doctor can prescribe regular painkillers if necessary. Always let your doctor or nurse know about any side effects you have. There are usually ways in which they can be controlled or improved".

You may already have this info and be looking for fellow sufferers, but it sounds like it is not one of the more common side effects.

Take care of yourself and I hope if you are suffering with this, it either passes soon or you get help with some painkillers.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I had that info and wondered what others had done. spoke to my GP this morning and she prescribed me an antispasmodic which has worked wonders. Have had taxol/carboplatin before without any abdo pain.This is just straight taxol, weekly.

Good to hear that you have the pain under control.

I am doing well at the moment thanks for asking. Diagnosed with stage 3c in May this year and had surgery and on first line chemo. CA125 is falling and I am feeling fine with only minor side effects. Get the Gremlins somedays/nights, but mostly am trying not to focus too much on anything other than the now and the immediate future.

I was diagnosed 4 years ago with stage 2b. My cancer seems addicted to the chemo!!! Now on my 5th lot!! But I'm a game oldish bird of 64. Everyone has their down times, but at the end of the day we just have to get on and LIVE or you really do let the beast win! what chemo are you on? Great that your CA125 is falling. Makes any discomfort worth while.

Hi Soapsuds,

I am on Carboplatin/Taxol. I did have a lovely day today. My husband worked from home in the morning and then in the afternoon he took me to Malvern, where I bought some beautiful cards and then we went for a walk on the Malvern Hills. I am 45, full details on my profile.

I got dreadful abdo pain the evening and day after taxol and that was on a 3 weekly cycle, pain used to take my breath away so know how you're feeling x

hi i have just started taxol and 3 days after i had the most horendous abdominal pain, i have suffered from ibs but this was much much worse called clinic told to take buscopan but did not help had it for 2 and a half days please tell me it will go after a few treatments am on weekly cycles. was climbing the walls
