Im going to be put on this because my low grade cancer 'probably' wonbt respond to chemo at the mo so they are going to try this. For those of you that have had it, how long did it keep the cancer at bay before it started to misbehave? I feel a bit scared today.

Hiya,
I've looked at the stuff available online, and there has been v little use of it for ov. ca., but what has been reported suggests it's effective at stopping the spread of hormone sensitive cancers. So, I think you might think of it as a different HRT (it is a hormone),designed to stop your cancer growing. If it suits you, I expect it's something you can take for prolonged periods (they seem to use it for 5 years in breast cancer patients).
I'm not surprised you feel a bit scared today - with all the discovering what's what, but it must be good that what's still there is so low grade it's hard to treat. If the letrozole keeps it as is there are years ahead for them to find other solutions - and for you to see what works for you!
Love,
Isadora.
Thanks Isadora
Ive had a little google too and there is evidence to suggest it slows it down for a while. However my consultant at my normal clinic said that my OC isnt the 'hormone driven' one so are they barking up the wrong tree with this or have they got their wires crossed?
Im back on the juicing and the immune system foods too, I need to get more, thats what I can do to help my body heal itself and kick this **** out

Hi Sunny,
Am I correct in saying this is the Royal Marsden and you have been referred there. I am sure you could still get a second opinion at UCL or Barts if you wanted if you are not comfortable. Ovacome will give you the best people to see. I know it is the standard answer from me, but I know the peace of mind it can bring, but you have to I suppose also think about what you would do if they did not agree!
I would have thought the Royal Marsden are on the money.
Love Lizzie

Yes its the Marsden but it just seems that the cancer I have might not respond to chemo while its 'sleeping' and Im well, they dont want to make me ill with treatment for a possible minimal benefit. This is my 2nd opinion as my onc referred me to them. Thanks x
Hi! Sunny
Thanks for your previous reply regarding David Hamilton's books. The one you are waiting for has my visualisation story in it, I start off the chapter & it's around page 119. Try & also get his first book called "It's the thought that counts" that's what got me interested in the work he does.
Replying to your Letroloze question, I've just started on this about 3 weeks ago & I'm on it for 8 weeks (being monitored every 4 wks) then a CT scan to see if over that period of time the tumour has stopped growing. My new diagnosis is that it is slow growing at the moment & just over an inch in size. My tumour is being fed by eostrogen in the body so if it works over the 8 week period they will keep me on it indefinitely until it stops working & then radium treatment, If it doesn't work radium will start immediately. So far had very little side effects but like you it's scary if it doesn't work and at the moment they are offering me no other options. I am well at the moment & cannot have any more chemo so I'm hoping Letrozole will do the job.
I'm back for 4 weekly check-up on 9th May & will keep you posted.
Please let me know how you get on & what is happending with you.
Love & Light with massive hugs
Iris
