Heartburn/indigestion

Hi everyone, I've been on naraparib for 6 months and just recently, last month or so, I've been experiencing indigestion and heartburn. I was fine beforehand so has anyone else experienced this?

Im on Olaparib (another parp inhibitor) and get bouts of indigestion. I’ve more or less identified what foods cause these bouts and try and avoid.

Thank you for that. I seem to have indigestion most of the time now, whatever I eat. I'll speak to my oncologist about it.

Not nice, I hope you get a resolution x

These can be a side effect of Niraparib and my oncologist told me that side effects can come on at any time. I also had bloating, cramps and back pain (also can be side effects) so I had a CT scan. No sign of recurrence but I did find out that I have a moderate hiatus hernia which was causing the heartburn. It comes and goes and I just manage it by trying to eat earlier, not lying down soon after eating, avoiding very rich foods (most of the time!) and occasionally using antacids. Hope you manage to get it sorted x

Diagnosed with HGSOC 3c and have been on Niraparib since March 2024. Various minor unexplained pains/niggles but definite long term back pain across middle of chest. More recently I have had noticeable indigestion. I have taken 1 Esomeprazole daily as prescribed since starting Niraparib. I am now having persistent pains in armpits and in groin but can’t feel any swollen glands. Oncology nurse didn’t comment on this - perhaps these pains are another side effect of Niraparib? Just had 4th three monthly CT scan and awaiting results.

Sorry to hear about the niggles etc. Every slight pain is always a worry. Has the esomeprazole helped? We battle on!

Yes it helps. This was suggested by oncologist when I started Niraparib. I am on a repeat prescription from my GP practice.

Thank you. My oncologist has done a prescription for me, omeprazole so hopefully that will help.
