Hi everyone, started on Niraparib in September. My Ca125 levels were 15, now they have gone up to 25. Does that mean it isn’t working? My oncologist said it’s still below the normal level. I’ve had a bad cold recently I don’t know if that would make any difference to the readings. Thankyou

There are a number of things that can impact the CA125 test. My oncologist explained that it is more about the overall trend rather than just a one time increase. Of course, it is always discouraging to see the number go up and hard to wait until the next test to see what the trend is.

Hello,

Talk with your oncologist and find out what will be be his/her target numbers to make a decision for your treatment should the numbers continue to increase. Remember treatment is about control.🙏🏼

You’ve come a long way🙏🏼

Hi there - I had just the same yesterday, mine has gone from 8 to 20. My oncologist explained that other things can affect it - an infection, an illness, and definitely surgery (I had my stoma reversed 3 weeks ago). She told me not to worry about it as she is not concerned, and we will see what it is in 4 weeks. So I would say that your bad cold could definitely be the culprit, and that like me you should try not to worry and hopefully we will see a better result next time. Fingers crossed for both of us.

I've been on Niraparib since July, but had to have a break of 6 weeks in order to have the reversal, which has also been a worry. I started it again yesterday.

My oncologist always says that it is the ‘trend’ that is important. This has been so with every recurrence: I am on my 4th. 🙏

Thankyou so much for your reply I appreciate it. Going back for another test in January so fingered crossed. Hope everything goes well for you. They say don’t worry but that is easier said than done. Keep trying to put it out of my mind but it keeps reappearing!! Sending love.
