I have been on Niraparib for three months and have been ok so far apart from this week I have found my skin on my hands peeling. Has anyone else experience this and should I be worried? Also the roof of my mouth is sore.

Niraparib - peeling skin
I got it from the caelyx but they still do it on Niraparib. I find they are very itchy and can get really peely! I swear by Aveeno hand cream (the blue one!) x
I think this is one of the side effects. My hands were awful. One hand looked like leather. I was told it would probably stay like that but luckily after hand cream it went back to normal eventually. For my mouth I just rinsed in salt water. It's worth a try.
All the best, Zena x
One of my palms is really cracked and sore. I just thought it was stress and anxiety with whats going on in my life just now. Didn't know it was a side effect. I've been using my daughters creams as she has similar problem. The pharmasist in Boots was very helpful.
Hi there Jingles6
Thank you for your post. I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve been experiencing peeling skin on your hands, as well as a sore mouth. I can see you've had some insight from the forum community about this which I hope has been helpful.
Macmillan’s information sheet about niraparib explains that both changes to skin and a sore mouth and throat are potential side effects: macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf... - Have you had the opportunity to tell a member of your clinical team about these changes? They should be able to advise you on the best way to manage this and may be able to prescribe medication to help you.
I hope the discomfort you’re experiencing eases soon. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Ovacome support team if it would help to talk things through. You can reply to us directly via this forum, email us at support@ovacome.org.uk, or phone our support line on 0800 008 7054. We are here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm, to discuss queries or concerns, provide information resources or just have a friendly chat.
Best wishes

Just to say always use rubber gloves when using any soapy water and perhaps mouth wash might help with your mouth but talk to a professional because they have experience with this and we're all different. All the best Sue xx
