Hello. There are two Facebook pages with lots of very helpful ladies who have/had borderline tumours. facebook.com/share/g/TQzYKq... Is the one with the most members. The page is called borderline ovarian cancer/tumours if the link doesn’t work.
Borderline tumours do generally have an excellent prognosis. 😊
I had a large borderline tumor removed in May 2020. I was very frightened at the time, because I didn't get the diagnosis until after surgery and was fearing worse news. I had a full hysterectomy with both ovaries and tubes removed but did not need any further treatment. My oncologist checks me every six months but said my chance of any recurrence is less than five percent. I was 58 at time of diagnosis, so fertility was not a concern. Best wishes to you; it's a frightening experience. --Lani
hi. I had two supposedly benign ovarian cysts removed in April 2019 in a bilateral salpingo oophorectomy. . However after analysis (histology) it was found they were BOTS (diagnosed stage 3C). I then had debulking surgery in June 2019 to remove my appendix, my omentum, resect my peritoneum and scrape my bowel. I had a follow up check about 6 months later but it was in Covid times and my surgeon said I was at more risk from Covid than a recurrence. So I was told to keep an eye out for any symptoms (I never had any in the first place - cysts/tumours were found accidentally during tests for something else). I’m now 5 years post diagnosis/surgery so assume I’m all ok now. I was 61 at diagnosis. My two surgeons told me that surgery was the best/only answer to BOTS and after that I was pretty much assured I’d be ok. However do join the FB group that’s recommended by Worrywart2000 as I found this very helpful although I seemed to be the oldest person to have this diagnosis.
