I'm sorry, but I don't even know what that is. Probably someone here will chime in with information for me. I hope you find the answer you're looking for.

Hi Trudo, I was diagnosed with Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma stage 3b September, 2015. It is a fast growing serous cancer. I had gone into surgery for a ventral hernia and they discovered some cancer in my omentum. After a laproscopy done during the same surgery, they were able to see small tumors here and there. So I was immediately scheduled to see a gynecological oncologist and he told me what they had found and said the pathology was similar to and treated just like ovarian cancer. So he scheduled one chemo. Then debulking surgery, then 5 chemos after that. The last 4 were IP meaning the chemo is directly administered into the abdomen via a port and not thru a vein.(IV)

I am 7 months post chemo and doing great. I hope all is well with you.

I've never heard of serous cancer, but I was diagnosed with Primary Peritoneal Cancer (PPC) in April 2015. Had 3 lots of chemotherapy then debulking surgery then 6 more lots of chemotherapy. Am now taking Tamoxifen tablets and am back at work part-time and feeling well. I have 3 monthly checks.

Hi Trudo

I was diagnosed with PPC stage 3c high grade serous in 2011. I thought I had put on weight but in fact I had 8 litres of fluid in my abdomen otherwise know as ascites. I was told I had Cancer cells in my pelvic area and I would be treated with 6 rounds of carboplatin and taxol after draining the fluid . Unlike many people here surgery wasn't an option but I responded very well to chemo and remained disease free until this year. I am now getting treated for a recurrence in my lymph nodes so I hope I respond as I did first time.

Like many people I had never heard of PPC but had heard of course of Ovarian Cancer which I was told it resembled and the symptoms and treatment are the same. It is much rarer but there are some women on this site who have the same diagnosis . That is comforting as you won't feel so isolated and they have been so supportive as are all the women here .

If you look to the right of this post you will find Related Posts and there you will find an explanation for the various types of PPC and OC . Your treatment may depend on the type you have . I do wish you all the best in the future . You will get through it and get lots of good advice here plus you will have a medical team looking after you. Please stay in touch

I was diagnosed high grade serous primary peritoneal cancer in May 2015.

I was admitted with a bowel obstruction and Ppc picked up on cr scan. It's stage 4 due to para cardiac node involvement.

Ppc is treated like ovarian cancer , because the cancer cells look the same under a microscope.

I had 6 rounds of chemo, debulking operation followed by 17 lots of avastin.

I have scan results on Monday , and so far feel well.

Good luck with your treatment

Hope the scan results come up trumps on Mnday - keeping fingers crossed for you Judy. My diagnosis is very similar to yours, especially the para cardiac nodes.

Have a good day

I am stage 3C serous ovarian cancer though they did deliberate whether it was PPC - whatever, it is the same treatment. Because my cancer cells are diffuse in the peritoneum I have not had surgery but had an excellent response to chemo and Avastin. 'Serous' is the most common type of ovarian cancer - I have to admit when I first saw the word I read it as 'serious'. Yup, I had serious cancer.

I am constantly monitored and checked like everyone else but I live a normal life. I've been told I may need chemo again in the future to keep on top of it, and you need to learn to handle that mentally. But the big picture is that they treated me and saved my life.

I was diagnosed with PPC in January. I had 4 lots of chemo, debulking surgery then two more chemo. It was a very hard journey but I was back at work part time 26 days after last chemo and I now feel well. Keep positive. Don't Google as you will get all sorts of worrying sites. Listen to your doctors. Good luck x
