Hi lovely ladies
My mum is nearing the end of first-round treatment - two more chemos to go. We found out that she is HRD+ (not BRCA) so will be being put on Olaparib + Bev. Has anyone had this maintenance - how has it worked for you?
Thanks
Hi lovely ladies
My mum is nearing the end of first-round treatment - two more chemos to go. We found out that she is HRD+ (not BRCA) so will be being put on Olaparib + Bev. Has anyone had this maintenance - how has it worked for you?
Thanks
Hi😘. Yes, I had this following carbo/plax and stage 4b hrd+ brca negative. I had 22 avastin 3 weekly and am finishing my 2years of olaparib if my scan is clear in January. My Ca 125 sits at 7 🥳. I started at 600 olaparib dropping to 500 then 400 and stayed at that daily, others can tolerate 600, I had aches and pains and the fatigue is shocking and I put it all down to olaparib but once I finished the avastin in April this year I've had much more energy and not so much aches so think the combo was a bit tough but 100% doable and fingers crossed it stays like that 🙏🙏🙏. The studies say its the best way forward for us. Goodluck to you and your mum X
Your Mum is going onto the game changing maintenance duo. It works as well with HRD variants as with BRCA.
I had fatigue and aches which were manageable knowing it is keeping the new cancer cells at bay.
Yoga or another exercise helps the muscle tightness. I have had massage too.
Maintaining yourself with a good routine and nutrition helps minimise effects. I agreed with Newberry that after the bevacizumab finished 6 weeks ago my energy has improved these last two weeks.
Good luck to your Mum,
F x
I agree with Newbery3 and Motiva. Same side effects but under control. Fatigue mostly during both drugs.
Hi Georgia. I was on Olaparib for 2 years as I am also HRD. Couldn't tolerate the high dose of 600 so reduced to 300 and that was very manageable but I suffered with neuropathy in my feet. Finished in February this year and since then my energy levels, aches and pains and lethargy has all improved. I am back to my exercise regime of yoga and pilates which has been a struggle but I am getting there. I follow a vegan diet and avoid anything that might be processed ( except wine of course 😂🤣) I also get a deep tissue massage one a month just to keep everything moving. Wishing your mum all the best x
Hello. I had Olaparib (and Avastin) and just could not tolerate the side effects. In feb I was 80 and considering all my circumstances, I decided I could not go on with adjuvant therapy. My numbers are great, I am not in pain, the oncologist and surgeon will monitor me regularly.
