Hi, I had my operation last September and have had pain now and then. When I told my Onc she said its normal. I haven’t been able to figure out its beacuse of siiting too much (my work) or sometimes when its cold.

I would take a painkiller but never too bad that I needed it.

Hope all goes well for you xx

Hello, in case it helps, I also had debulking surgery about 8 weeks ago and I also suffer from pain under my left rib and back. It’s worse after I eat. My surgeon told me that this was a normal part of the healing process as it is major surgery (plus I had surgery high in abdomen) - he was reviewing my scan at the time. It is getting better and slowly easing. I did go to my local A&E at one point after discharge and calling the hospital because of the pain. I have since just managed with painkillers and eating smaller meals. But please do contact your hospital or GP if you are worried and in pain. I wish you all the best your healing process.

I had surgery in 2019 and had pain like you mentioned, plus other kinds for *months* after it was over. I was never really told just how long it would take to heal, so I was curtain it was signs of an early recurrence. It turns out yes, it just takes way longer to heal than I would have expected. Your CT will put you at ease, I believe. Until then give yourself a long long time to feel normal again.

HelloI am 3 months post surgery & had pain down my left side most of the time. I was assured it was a normal part of the healing process as your bowels are down the left side, and they take some time to settle down.

Something I wish I'd known post surgery that I've only recently found out is that a diet where you omit insoluble fibre really helps. So thats anything with seens, nuts, pips, skin including fruit & veg skins, no wholegrain atall, no fruit or veg wuth pips & seeds, its too rough on the stomach. Worth speaking to a dietician & your nurse can refer you. All the best xx

I had upper backache due to walking stooped more after surgery. Soon as I started walking tall & doing the exercises they advise regularly it went away.
