Mom's ovarian cancer spread to brain

Hi all,My mom was diagnosed with 3c ovarian cancer 2 years ago. It was inoperable and she has had 6-7 lines of chemo, most recently Enhertu. After the first 2 cycles, her Ca125 dropped drastically and then increased after her 4th. We found out this week that her cancer has likely spread to her brain. She has 4 lesions on her brain now. Anyone else dealing with anything similar who can share your experience with brain mets? Our family is feeling hopeless and crushed.

Such a sad sharing from you, Chatterbox. Maybe talking with the Ovacome Support Team on freephone 0800 008 7054 could help you, or any of your family. They are there for anyone affected by OC not just we patients. Big hug, take care and be kind to yourselves during this really sad development. x

Hi Chatterbox76, so sorry to hear that. While your mom is waiting for her treatment, it's not gonna harm to try some natural remedies as long as there is no contradiction with her condition. You may research to find the suitable remedy or supplement which may help to prevent the cancer spread so quickly. I would pray and wished all the best with the treatments for your mom.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s condition, Chatterbox. It is understandable you and family feel helpless. I hope there is support on the emotional rollercoaster this beast unleashes on everyone who is affected. What kind of ovarian cancer was she diagnosed with? How did they discover the brain lesions? Bc of symptoms or routine Pet Scan? What are they suggesting as a treatment for the brain lesions. Stay strong and focused, though you are also in the right to flip out a little. It’s OK not to be OK. Widen your network and resources to include “complimentary,” care for cancer treatment, not necessarily “alternative,” care. You’ll need support figuring out best diets and other treaments for your mom, depending on her cancer type. And with the right people (drs and practitioners) it is supposed to help make the standard of care treatment more effective. Hope you have good tips and resources and that these are right for your mom’s own particular disease and circumstances. Sending you and your mom healing thoughts.

She was diagnosed with high grade serous ovarian. She was most recently on enhertu which was taught to work well for her specific tumor protein profile. Enhertu made her really weak and caused lots of nausea and vomiting. During a routine blood draw , her nurses noticed she was not her usual self and alerted her doctor about an altered mental status (my mom was just more weak and depressed), so her doctor ordered a same day CT. Apparently the symptoms of brain mets are very similar to side effects of enhertu.
