Hi ladies,

Just a quick question. This has been added to my diagnosis on my letter but I didn't notice. I was told I didn't have BRCA gene. Is this what that means?

Thanks

CAG

I think it means “ wild type” which means you don’t have the braca gene. I hope that’s correct. I am same and this was how it was explained to me x

We are OC sisters ... Did the doc explain it to you or did it just appear like mine? x

I was told I didn’t have the braca gene but read the ‘wild type’ bit on a letter to my doctor, also said MMRp and HRD- x

It's BRCA wild type, known as negative.

Hi

A negative BRCA test (also referred to as BRCA wild type or BRCAwt) means that the gene remains in its original, non-mutated state. So yes negative. I had seen that before but wanted to be sure so I checked .

Source Our Way Forward Ovarian Cancer Glossary I have found useful but this probably has to be vetted by the administrators of the site if useful.
