fallopian cancer return

hi everyone. After chemo, surgery and chemo, was cancer free we thought. But now it has return in the lymph nodes after 6 months and my dr wants to do carbo with dioxin. Has anyone done this combo? If so how bad were side affects? Hair loss? Heart problems? She also suggested Elahere. Anyone have that treatment with bad side affects? Hair loss? Thank you everyone, really need some advice at this time.

Hi. The chemo is doxil, called caelyx in the UK.

It’s commonly used for first recurrence. I found it tolerable compared to frontline because it’s every four weeks. You have to put a lot of lotion on hands and feet and you might get mouth sores. My platelets tanked but came back enough by the next chemo though they had to lower the dose.

If they are going to give you carbo and doxil then you are considered platinum sensitive. Elahere is a new drug for platinum resistant people. I’m not sure if it’s available in the UK so you may not get much response on that. I’m guessing your oncologist means that would be next if the chemo doesn’t work? Your tumor has to be tested to see if it’s alpha folate receptor positive enough. I’m on my second recurrence and being tested for that.

Try to focus on one day at a time. Hopefully the chemo will work.

Thank you for your reply and advice. I have been tested to accept elahere and I'm good to go. So far no hair loss which I'm so thankful for right now. Praying for all of us. We got this!

Carbo doesn't cause hair loss, but I have no idea the other drug, you can Google it. Hair is only hair. It grows back. Your life is important. I had 18 rounds of chemo in 14 weeks with ip chemotherapy, interperiteneal chemotherapy also called stomach wash, I took had cancer in two lymph nodes 15 were removed. I'm in the US, I was diagnosed in 2014, April. Best wishes and I will keep you in my prayers. 💜 Liz

Thank you for your reply. I'm in the U S and asked about removal of lymph nodes and was told no. I did have 15 rounds of chemo previously. Well 2 I couldn't because of blood level..so 13. Now I'm on a plan of iv chemo every 4 weeks for 6 total treatments. Then no clue to where we are going from there. I heard of the stomach wash but it wasn't an option for me. Where are you now? Are you in remission? Hopefully..?

I see Dr Amy Hakim at city of hope mission hills. She's an oncologist/gym surgeon. I had interperiteneal chemotherapy, and IV chemo. 18 rounds in 14 weeks, 2 major surgeries then, I had all my sFemale organs removed, appendix, and colon scraped, 15 lymph nodes and all my omentum removed. That was in 2014, I have been cancer free since with no reoccurrence. 10 yrs. My Dr listens to me. I have her cell #. Too. In case of an issue, I see her once a year now because I live in TN. 💜 Liz
