So, following my last scan, the radiographer says progressive disease, MDT say stable. Any observations please or anyone had similar experience? Am on Avastin and Olaparib. My CA125 is slowly decreasing but I am still somewhat concerned by the differing opinions x

Hello Beaver54, it’s disconcerting when the experts disagree. I would suggest you ask for another scan or a second opinion.
My experience is that the alarm was raised by radiography but my oncologist played it down at the time, I suspect this was the wrong decision. I started on chemo that didn’t work, when I might have had radiotherapy on my lung lesion in a more timely way.
It’s always a hard call for them but I would rather bring in another pair of eyes as these are crucial decisions xx
Thank you Lyndy. That does seem a sensible thing to do. I have already had a second opinion re operating, and it turned out my Onc was right, it was inoperable. I guess I’m just concerned now of peeing her off asking for yet another second opinion. I’m also concerned that she wasn’t going to tell me about the conflict until I asked for a copy of the scan results. I have my own conflict in my head going on right now. Do I , don’t I ? I’m also thinking that the radiographer is one person, where MDT is several. I have got a telephone appointment coming up, so I could express my concerns then and see where the conversation takes us.
I’m sorry that you had that experience, so you have first hand knowledge. I hope things are working out for you now. xx
hi beaver54. I was in a similar position but I’m on a trial. The CT scan reported something on my bowel. I was going to be taken off the trial but the MDT decided to do a pet scan . This showed to be clear and I stayed on the trial. I would also say that the ct scan was a new improved machine.
As your numbers are good I would ask them to review it again.
The usual make up of an MDT would often include radiology, so it might be worth checking if that was the case with your review. It may be that when they all got together, things were presented in a different way, and always remember that the reporting of scans can be somewhat subjective, depending on who reported the scan.
Hooe this helps and that you get done clarification.
Best wishes
