hi - I have recently had this problem and was eventually hospitalised for 10 days with a blockage of my small intestine. I was extremely ill but lucky enough to be at the Marsden where they quickly identified the problem and put me on various drips and spit in a nasal gastric tube. It was all very uncomfortable and I felt terrible but they sorted it out and the blockage cleared without surgery although they are going to do further investigations and I am in the meantime on a very restricted diet. It definitely sounds as if your mom has a similar issue. The bile vomit is really horrible - when that started I contacted the Marsden and they asked me to come in immediately. However if your mom is already in hospital surely they should know what to do? Does she have a nasal gastric tube?? They used that to drain the bile fluid - horrible but effective. Please contact me if I can be of any further help. Fiona

My CT scan showed very inflamed intestines - very dramatic pictures so I guess it was very clear what and where the problem was. But if nothing is showing up on a CT I don’t know what to suggest. I’m going to be having an MRI in a couple of weeks which I understand will show more detail - maybe you could ask for that? My blockage is likely to be caused by adhesions from the two major abdominal surgeries I’ve had. Really happy to help in any way I can. Best wishes Fiona

Last July I developed an inability to keep fluids/food down and was vomiting bile. It is really horrible.

I was hospitalized and they put an endoscopic in my stomach and saw nothing but did put in an NG tube to drain the bile.

Next they performed an endoscopic ultrasound, did some needle biopsies and found a tumor almost obstructing my duodenum from the outside.

A stent was placed between my stomach and intestine, bypassing my duodenum.

Since then they having been trying different treatments to try to shrink the tumor. I can now eat though my diet is still limited and while some tumors have shrunk, others have appeared.

I wish your Mom the best of luck in her continuing treatment.
