Hi, I was 68 when diagnosed in Aug 21 and am the same, stage 4a. It had spread to the peritoneum in my case. I had 6 sessions of chemo then debulking surgery followed by two more sessions of chemo. I then went on to Niraparib. Since then I have had to have more chemo as it has now spread to my spleen and liver. I had no problem with the surgery in fact I was told that without surgery back in 2021 I only had 6 months to a year with just chemo. I’m sure you will be in good hands and after surgery there will be a plan going forward as there has been for me. Good luck xxx

Hi,I am stage 4b too, diagnosed 3 years ago,my cancer had spread to my peritoneum ,had one session of chemo when the cancer blocked my bowel, had emergency surgery for a stoma, then carried on for 5 more sessions of chemo, then full debulking surgery at Hammersmith, had my spleen ,appendix and peritoneum removed.I can honestly say I was treated brilliantly.I am 73 and living each day.Its hard to start with, but you will get there, wishing you all the luck !

Hello, I am 80 now! In July 2022 I had debulking surgery after 4 sessions of chemo, finished chemo, had 18 sessions of Avastin. The surgery was absolutely fine, and well worth doing, very effective.

I was diagnosed Autumn 2021 HGSC 3c, already in my peritoneum. At age 70, had debulking surgery which went well. There was a lady in my ward in her late 70’s who was on her 2nd surgery who was recovering well. I don’t think the medics would offer surgery if they did not think that it would benefit you. 🙏x

Hi. The surgery is your best hope, assuming you can have it. Definitely worth doing. Good luck with everything!
