Breathlessness

Hi I am currently on a cycle which involves two sessions at two weeks apart called TETP. So I am having etoposide and paclitaxel then cisplatin and paclitaxel two weeks later. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a tight chest and breathlessness when having any of the above. Also I have developed a rash under both breasts which is quite uncomfortable. I am finding the breathlessness quite difficult to cope with. Thank you for any advice or suggestions.

Hello, I can’t help with breathlessness (although you should report it) but the under breast rash is likely to be candida.

I have some anti fungal and cortisone cream from the GP for this but it is very persistent! x

Thanks Lyndy. It's amazing what odd side affects appear after chemo!

Call your team asap. Breathlessness is potentially serious and must be investigated. Hope it's nothing but you need a medical professional to assess it.

RE your under breast issue…. Trust me when I say it works… a simple remedy…some athletes foot powder(being anti fungal) easily and cheaply available ie.. Home Bargains@ £1.19… and bobs your uncle…!!!!

(And a breast nurse gave me this absolutely invaluable tip years ago..) I have blessed her ever since.. best advice ever given to anyone with large breasts..!! No thanks needed, just amazed it’s still a secret..🤗

I got breathlessness on Gemzar. They prescribed Montelukast (Singulair), which helped. The under-breast rash responds well to anti-fungal cream. Good luck!

Hi Leniko thank you for this. Sorry for not replying sooner I have only just picked this up. I have my next round of chemo on Wednesday so will mention this to my oncologist. It is not something I hear much about so it may not be that common. I went to see my GP about my rash and she gave me an anti-fungal cream and shampoo and that has cleared it up - until the next round of chemo anyway. While I was there I mentioned about my breathlessness and had an ECG so at least I know my tight chest is not because of my heart. I never would have thought chemo could produce so many random side-effects. Take care x
