Hi all. Further update (I have posted this on my earlier thread, so please forgive duplicate. I wasn’t sure if it could be seen, so I’ve started agsin) I have my operation date on 10th Nov. CF can’t do op until 24th. Op is supposed to be performed within 6weeks of last chemo,so that would be 9 weeks if I chose CF. I have agreed to one of her team doing the op, a miss Bryan Stacey. I so hope I’ve done the right thing. xx

No expert. But if you want a certain team that you trust, I'm sure a few weeks won't make a difference. Best of luck!
Thank you candyapplegrey. I did ask if a few more weeks would make a difference and I was told yes it would. The surgeon doing the op is in the same team as the surgeon recommended by members of this group. I am upset that she can’t do it, but I don’t want to risk further spread. It’s one of them, damned if I do, damned if I don’t. xx
Hi there, I think you’re right to get your op done within the six weeks. All the surgeons will be well trained and competent, though I understand you would have preferred one you feel you really have a lot of faith in.
Wishing you all the very best! ( I had Stage 3c and now four years NED ) so you could be too!

I know lots of people who have remained NED, so a good chance you will be too!
All the very best - the op isn’t as bad as you’d expect. I was terrified and yet everything ( especially pain relief) was excellent!

Thanks Denise. I don’t want to sound negative and mostly I’m not. I have significant mesenteric disease which is why my original team wouldn’t operate as there a risk of damage to the blood supply to the intestines. I am extremely anxious but I know I’ve got to go for it. I’m sure I can cope with recovery, it’s just the fear of the op. xxx
It’s completely natural to feel fear about any operation and this is a major one, for sure.
You will find the the theatre staff very kind and reassuring and will help out your mind at ease as you go through it. I was so, so scared and yet the nurses really helped to calm and reassure me.

Hi Beaver54,
I had my debulking surgery at Queen Charlotte's last Feb, I was lucky enough to have had Prof F. However Stacey Bryan was part of her team during surgery and after care. They are all amazing and you will be going to a top notch specialist team. Wishing you all the very best and I hope your surgery is a success. x
Thank you so much Halo2014, thst is so reassuring. I’m feeling better about it now and I just want it done.
I hope that you’re still doing well following your surgery xx
I know exactly what you mean by wanting it done! I'm doing really well thank you 😊 Like Norelo8 I took things slow and listened to my body. Eat lots of protein as it will help with your recovery from surgery. Remember we're here if you need us. x
Hi Beaver54 ,
I replied to you previous post and have just seen this one .
My operation in January of this year was performed by Christina Fotopoulou . When I came round from the operation she came to see me with Stacey Bryan , both of them had been involved in my procedure. I saw Stacey several times during my week’s stay in hospital, she was very professional and competent and seemed like a lovely person .
I understand you must be feeling anxious about this change of plan but rest assured that , as Stacey has been taught by CF , you will be in very capable hands .
Sending hugs and best wishes
Karen x
I am , it took quite a few weeks of rest and listening to my body but I would say I’m doing well really . Went to an exercise class run locally by an Active Against Cancer initiative this morning and generally trying to get back to as normal as possible - the new normal as people often say .
Good luck x
