I had the debulking surgery March end of last year and hence was asked to do PET CT scan full body by my surgical oncologist this month (since it will be 1.5 years today). I did the test day before, got the result yesterday and met my onco today. Except for one observation about increased FDG uptake in the soft tissue of the abdomen close to the umbilical cord, I am ALL CLEAR!!! Was so so relieved that my lungs were ok.
The area where the fgd uptake is seen is close to my operation area and hence is likely to be inflammatory in nature. The report says SUV rating is 4 and the activity is in the soft tissue of the abdomen. So doc has asked to come in for another clinical examination next month just to be sure. Hoping it is nothing but overall so so pleased with my report... just had to share. I have been manifesting an NED report for so many months and happy that it came close to that 😃

Congratulations on the great news! Thank you for sharing your experience.
During initial chemo, between the 3rd and 4th cycle, my abdominal incision opened up about ~1 inch x 1 inch. I had a PET CT scan after the 4th cycle and it showed 20 mm of soft tissue below the umbilical cord of FDG activity 10.2. On the next PET Scan, 2 cycles later, it showed "decreased size with SUV of 9 units". The opening itself had decreased about 50% in size, all other areas of concern were gone and my CA-125 continued to drop.
I asked my oncologist's office and they said it could be due to inflammation but would continue to be monitored - I have another PET CT in November and am on Avastin and Olaparib. My wound is completely closed now.
Thank you! And thanks for sharing your experience. Hope you have an uneventful pet ct result (or as my doc likes to say when I have good results-it's plain vanilla)! Can I ask a follow up- did you have all the chemo cycles after the surgery? Is that why you had an incision during the chemo? My debulking was after the 4th cycle followed by 2 more chemo cycles. Also adding that my post surgical recovery was "plain vanilla", I thought my wound was well healed so was a little surprised by that one result today
and yes, the report delivery is very prompt. There are many things I complain about my country but the speed of diagnostics is not one of them! Completely alleviates the waiting anxiousness.
Thank you! Yes, I was getting anxious that I was getting to the year and half mark and my doc had not brought it up. And then when he did, I jumped at it and took the test that same week 😃. Now with that one little remark on the soft tissue inflammation, I cannot wait when he would recommend the next one. But it is a costly test here, even with discounts.
That’s great to hear! 🥳 Like you I had debulking surgery March last year 23/3 CT at end of chemo showed small amount around stomach visible. Deep node in chest disappeared with chemo. CT in Jan & June this year NED. Bevacizumab and Olaparib done its job. I’ve my next appointment 2weeks so hoping all well. I’m not sure if they’ll do another scan. Still have fatigue and get breathless at least thing so always a worry that it will recur in chest.
Hoping we both carry on with positive outcome and everyone else battling this!
