UPDATE on Abdominal distension.

Some may remember my post a few days ago. I was experiencing some abdominal distension, which I suspected maybe ascites. However, my GP assured me there was no ascites and I probably had diverticulitis.I took the advice of the kind ladies who responded to me. I was admitted to hospital yesterday with a CA125 of 999. This had increased from 135 within a month. I am booked in for a scan today and hopefully a drain can be inserted.

No one can answer why my last PET scan was NED, despite an ever increasing CA125 post chemo.

Thank you ladies for encouraging me to follow my 'gut'

Good for you! In these times it seems you have to take your own health care in your own hands be your own advocate, it is strange to me physicians don’t listen to us ….. not all but some. I had keep pushing my physician for 3 years before they finally realized I know my body. I do hope it is not bad news! The drain will be so much better!

I have to do my drains every two weeks. They wanted to put a drain in but I did not want to risk an infection plus couldn’t go swimming with it in either! A little of surgical glue and good to go

Thank you for your kind words of support.I'll post a more detailed update for all teal ladies. But I've really had to fight for this drain. At one stage they were going to send me home as they couldn't fit me in!!

How do you manage to organise a drain every 2 weeks?

Best wishes ❤️

I’m in the US and I can call my med group and schedule within 2 to 3 days. Initially it took a while as they thought moderate acsites and wouldn’t drain. When they finally drained had 5 and a half liters and then they told me anytime you “feel” full just call. It has dropped due to chemo to 1 and a half liters now in two weeks I am hoping it will be drying up completely but that is a hope and a dream as it is all over my liver and just a matter of time. I am on abraxane every two weeks. Ct scan this Monday to see if cancer is under control or getting worse. Need to find something that will work.

That's great that they will schedule a drain when you need one. How long are you usually in for?I do hope your CT scan results are encouraging and your current treatment is effective.

Keep fighting
