I'm sorry you're suffering with this; I was diagnosed with HH 4 years ago. I take 20mg omeperazole in the morning and it does keep it at bay. Maybe you need to try a different drug? Good luck, hope you find something to help.
Hi. I have the same thing only smaller. I take 20 mg omeprazole in the morning and Pepcid in the evening. My doctor prescribed 40 mg omeprazole but I don’t want to take that much.
Thanks Delia2 for replying to my posting, I don't like the site effects of Omeprazole & I already tried different meds, best for me is changing my diet & looking after my weight.
I was diagnosed with a HH which was picked up on a routine CT scan. I have been prescribed Omeprazole and lansoprazole but wasn’t able to tolerate the side effects. I manage mine by diet and not putting on too much weight. I also wear a non wired bra which also helps. I occasionally get pain but then become very strict in what I eat. Hope this helps.
I was diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia 15 years ago. The general consensus appears to be that the risks of surgery outweigh the benefits (in fact, it often doesn't help at all). Propping up your pillows at night should help, and you can even prop up the head of your bed, on bricks. Don't eat later than about 7 pm, although drinks are OK. Reduce alcohol and caffeine intake, also citrus, as that is very acid and can cause reflux. If omeprazole isn't doing the trick, it's worth asking your GP (there are alternatives, such as lansoprazole). Sending hugs!
I have hernia as well, and when I started taking celery juice in the morning and not drink for 20 minutes, it helped my acid reflux. I no longer take Prescription for my acid reflux
