Hi Everyone,
I have just started taking Olaparib. I wanted to ask if there are certain foods/ drink I need to avoid? Is it okay to drink green tea? I would love to hear from your experience.

Welcome to Olaparib Rgrg! You are supposed to avoid Seville oranges, grapefruit and I would just be wary of the citrus family.
Otherwise, I think it’s a bit trial and error. My stomach is more sensitive on this medication but that said I have eaten spicy food, had alcohol, eaten a wide range of food.
I am careful about food hygiene and try to avoid unpasteurised dairy etc.
But otherwise just living and eating as I please. xx
Hi
You are routinely advised to avoid grapefruit, as it can interfere with Olaparib, but nothing else, as far as I am aware. However, I found that my tastes changed and I went off vegetables COMPLETELY! It's a bit like being pregnant - in that you have cravings for certain things and other things (which you previously enjoyed) turn your stomach. You will find out in due course, as I guess everyone reacts slightly differently. Just eat what you feel like and look after yourself! Good luck.
I think the hospital chemist or CNS would be best placed to answer. I think green tea is ok. But I think soft cheeses, blue cheeses are out and bio active yoghurts and drinks are out and possibly fermented products like sauerkraut. All yoghurts seem bio active! Does Ovacome have any advice.? Grapefruit and Seville oranges out. I am lucky in that I am ok with taste . Emma
Hello Rgrg
thank you for your post. The Electronic Medicines Compendium lists detailed information for olaparib and you can view the patient information sheet here: medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...
You'll see that as the other members have mentioned, it advises against drinking grapefruit juice.
If you have any queries at all about your prescribed medication, please do contact your medical team. A specialist pharmacist at the hospital may also be able to advise you.
Best wishes
Anna
