Grandsons got chickenpox and I'm supposed to Xmas day with them🤷♀️x
Oh what a shame , but l would think he will be passed the infection stage by xmas day but l would check with your team to too be safe.Hope it will be ok. And would like to take this opportunity too wish everyone on here a safe Happy Christmas & a healthy new year for us all lots of love ❤ to you all SheilaFxxx
Noooo! They might be not infectious by Christmas day? I'd check with your team. Maybe postpone any Avastin treatment planned before then if any? It's so hard balancing our physical wellbeing and emotional well being xx
Oooh dear! Can you get in touch with your CNS or chemo nurse to check ….or the Ovacome helpline may be able to help you (number on their website). All the best xx
Hi there, on the NHS website it says chickenpox is usually infections until the blisters have scabbed over which takes 5-6 days from the start of the rash. So if the rash appeared a couple of days ago, you should be fine.Since grandchildren are the best therapy in the world, I sincerely hope that you can go!! 😊
Merry Christmas xx
As others have said, he should be ok by Christmas day but I think it's important to consider whether you've had chickenpox before? If so, you'll be immune to it anyway and I don't think being around someone with chickenpox can start up shingles (I think it's fairly random if/when shingles rears its ugly head).Really hope you can go! 🤞 Xx
I guess you need to check with your team to find out how long your grandson will be infectious for.It may be worth asking about the non live vaccine called Shingrix which is available in 2 doses, incase you become exposed to it in the future. I've had my first dose and will have the second one in the New Year.
The nurse at the GP practice told me it is suitable for people who have had cancer.Hope it can be sorted for you x
Thanks everyone ❤ we are waiting to see when his brothers spots appear! If that happens today we should be ok to go 🤞 X
have you had chicken pox before? Or been vaccinated for it? My understanding is that you can’t get chicken pox again, but you should check with your medical team. I was on avastin for 18 mths and don’t remember chicken pox being a concern. Unfortunately I got a terrible case of shingles but that is not something you catch. I hope your son feels well for Christmas 🎅🏻
I'm sick now anyway temp 39.1 triage can't get answer in ameu and our a&e is 16 miles away and 24hr wait so I'm not going there! Waiting for gp to ring back x
Oh what a pain! I do hope you feel better soon and that your team give you the go ahead to spend Christmas with the family. Don't take any risks, though. Chickenpox is horrible for adults and I wouldn't want to guarantee that contact with infected children couldn't trigger a bout of shingles.
