good day, ladies! That me again… short story my mom ovarian cancer 2017, in 2021 may recurrance 7 cyrcles carbo palitaxel as in first time that 6 month off ca 125 up again.. and she starts in april 22 again carbo palitaxel 8 rounds. It works but not so good as last year, ca went down to 40. All lymph became smaller but they still stay there no new was found now she was sent for holiday from 15.09 last chemo to 15.11 after 2 month her marker was up to 90 now on 15.12 she will have CT scan, and what wil be next? she will be platinum resistant or maybe they will try again platin chemo ? I wish they can send still watch and wait, as she has no pain or something else…

Hello, it’s difficult when you are constantly on that treadmill. Maybe they will watch and wait until she’s symptomatic? She or you might need to say this to the oncologist so they know.

They might well suggest more chemo,but as you say if it was me I would want to wait until I had symptoms before more treatment.Remember it’s your mums body so if she doesn’t want chemo yet she is perfectly entitled to say no for the moment,you don’t have to do what they say,ask lots of questions xx

I think they say for recurrent oc that starting chemo earlier perhaps before symptoms start offers no more benefit than if u were to wait a little

it’s unbelievably stressful I know,but you can’t change things,don’t go making yourself ill with worry and stress,that won’t help you or your mum x

I’m grateful that there are many different approaches and med combo’s to throw at OVCA. When once stops working, a well-trained oncologist will know what to try next. I was on Avastin for 2 years to keep my tumor from growing. It stopped working as effectively. I am now on Carbo/Gemzar/Avastin in hopes this will knock back my tumor growth. Stay positive, and trust her Onco. If you have any doubts, consult w another doctor. In this arena, you must be your own, or in this case, your mom’s advocate! The squeaky wheel thing is true. I wanted to add that I just knew, as did my husband, that my tumor was no longer dormant. It was my CA125 markers that told. My ratings are very sensitive and started going up 2 points a month. At first my Onco said this is normal, but I knew For Me, it wasn’t. We asked for a CT Scan and he agreed (prior one was 3 months before). Sure enough, tumor HAS grown and there was a new smaller one that appeared. The point is, I just Knew. Go with your gut. My Onco is a gift from God, but also Very Busy. The moral truly is :

Be Your Own Advocate, and Speak Up! Praying for your Mom.

Hi. Try not to panic until you know exactly what the problem is. You don’t mention any other treatments besides carbo taxol chemo. Have they tried other types of targeted treatments? Can she get on a trial for something like immunotherapy? Sending hugs. Xx

no other drugs only carbo palitaxel all 3 times hope next time they will try something new

Hi, I too am platinum resistant and my CA 125 is continuing to rise. So much so I don’t bother to ask now, however I am hormone positive & my great team at QE Birmingham have put me on letrozole(breast cancer drug). I tolerate it well & although the CT scan shows I still have OC & am happy to continue with it & be monitored. Hope this helps ? All the best to your Mama. I am based in the UK are you elsewhere?
