My last chemo (Taxel / Carbo) was 6 weeks ago. Two days ago I felt neuropathy in my left leg. Now it involves both legs (below knees): shooting pain, numbness and pins and needles sensation. Also the ankles have become painful as well. I never experienced such severe and wide spread neuropathy during my 3 weekly chemo. I thought it was a new supplement I started on Monday. I wonder if anyone here had this kind of delayed neuropathy and ankle pain after chemo. I know how to manage neuropathy, but I want to be certain it is related to previous chemo.

Delayed neuropathy after chemotherapy?

Hi Pat well done so far 👍🏻 I had my last chemo on 28/10 & neuropathy similar to yours over the last couple of weeks for first time. I guess it’s the build up but will be discussing at my consultation on 23rd. Horrible sensation but one I’m hoping will pass soon x
Hi Pat, not what you wanted after finishing chemo! I would just check with your team though, just in case you have a bit of cellulitis or lymphodema mixed in?
My rheumatoid always plays up in the weeks following chemo because the immune system starts to bounce back. It’s a transition time and you still need to look after yourself xx
my foot neuropathy was definitely a result of Carbo-Taxol. There are meds for it. Good luck!

Dear Pat_01,
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing these issues with neuropathy. We would suggest speaking to your team about what you're experiencing so they are aware and can help advise you based on your personal situation.
We have some useful resources on peripheral neuropathy for anyone looking for information.
We have a booklet here: ovacome.org.uk/peripheral-n...

I read on Dr Google that neuropathy can become worse in the 4th To 5th month after chemo finishes and this was certainly true of me. The shooting pains and involuntary leg twitches have now improved a great deal now I am 6 months later. But my balance is still affected and my doc says this is a form of neuropathy. I hope this helps and send my best wishes,Emma x
