Hello All
We’ve been approached by researchers at the Institute of Cancer Research, regarding a new clinical trial they are developing in collaboration with The Royal Marsden.
SOPRANO is a multi-centre, randomised phase II study designed to assess the impact of SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy) and of continuing treatment with a PARP Inhibitor for patients with ovarian, fallopian tube and primary peritoneal cancer which has spread to or has progressed in other parts of the body.
The trial protocol is almost finalised and the research team are keen to find someone to review the Patient Information Sheet and Informed Consent form from a patient’s perspective and offer feedback and suggestions, before they submit the trial application to the ethics committee.
So this wouldn’t be to take part in the trial, but to look at the information that will be given to patients who may take part, from your experience. They are ideally looking for one or two people who have experienced ovarian cancer and who may have been treated with a PARP Inhibitor, although this is not essential.
They are also keen to find someone who is interested in continuing participation by joining the Trial Management Group and assisting with decisions about the progress of the trial. This means it would be beneficial if you had some prior experience of patient and public involvement in research.
Meetings would mainly be remote, particularly for review of the study design and patient information documents. For any face-to-face meetings, attendance isn’t mandatory and the researchers would offer reimbursement of any expenses.
If this is something you would be interested in helping with, please contact the trials manager via email SOPRANO-icrctsu@icr.ac.uk
Best wishes
Anna
