Hello

We are preparing a submission to NICE regarding niraparib becoming available for first-line treatment on the NHS.

The name of the NICE consultation is: Niraparib for maintenance treatment of advanced ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer after response to first-line platinum-based chemotherapy.

It would be really helpful if any of you who are taking niraparib or who took part in the PRIMA trial (or have experience of taking PARP inhibitors as part of first-line treatment) have comments you'd be willing for us to share within our submission - we wouldn't use your name or any identifying details.

Do get in touch if you have any questions.

Many thanks for your help, as always.

Best wishes

Julia (Ovacome Support Services Officer)

Hello Julia - to the best of my knowledge, Avastin and Rucabarib are currently the only maintenance drugs available after 1st line treatment for BRCA negative ladies. An alternative option would be most welcome by clinicians and patients alike. I am currently taking Niraparib and feeling the best I have felt since diagnosis.

Hello lyn1987

Thank you ever so much for your helpful comment. Just to clarify, rucaparib is available second line and not first line. You can read more about this in our previous post at:

Hello,

I have been taking Niraparib now since Oct 2017 and am doing extremely well on it. I was re-diagnosed with stage 4 in spring 2017 and with the help of a second opinion, was able to be put forward for it. I really do believe that if I had been given access to it after my first diagnosis (stage 2) in 2015, then I would have had a much better chance of PFS.

But now I am on it, I feel I almost have my life back. IT has given me a certain quality of life back, and would really champion that other women have the chance to try it too.
