It is always worrying when this happens, but in all it is only up by 5 points which in the grand scheme of things is nit much. It could be due to a bit of inflammation. A CT scan will give you a better idea.
On my 6th chemo recently for 2nd recurrence my CA125 went up 2 points. I had a scan on Sept 5th,and will get the results this Thursday. I don't tend to think about the results, because i consider that i cannot change it.
My experience would suggest that the change in CA 125 is not sufficient for the Dr’s to even notice… what will be more important is your scan results . It sounds as if overall you have had a good response to treatment.
Try not to worry on it… spend your energy on recovering from chemo- eat well, sleep well and get some daily walks in if you can.
I had my first reoccurrence 8 months after finishing initial chemo after hysterectomy. I was on Lynparza. I zapped the areas that came back with SBRT and started Zejula. About 7 months later I reoccured in the same area (para aortic) so this time we went chemo. I have 2 more sessions and I should be NED again. I am going to take a “medical holiday” and do a wait and watch. You have to have the mindset that this is a disease that needs constant attention and planning. I am still platinum sensitive so in order to stay platinum sensitive, I need to stay off chemo for at least 6 months. My plan is SBRT again to buy time. We are waiting for it to show up in a place they can biopsy because that can open up more trials…maybe CAR T. PARPs should have worked for me because I am BRCA1+. Try to get there (a disease thought mentality). Plan on it coming back and try to develop with your doc a longer term plan. Having a plan helps me😀
hi tezza, so was this your 6th session for recurrence? i had a v quick 1st recurrence and had another op then radiotherapy rather than chemo. the ladies are right about ca125 though. for me, it was not a good indicator as it was normal throughout. but i was always told (before we discovered this) that a few points up and down was common. good luck!
