So after being so well for the last year or so on chemo but enjoying life to the full, I’ve had a setback. My kidneys swelled up and were only working at 10%. I’m now in hospital with drains in my kidneys each side and a catheter. They say the May be able to put stents in but not sure yet. Anyone offer any words of support or advice please. Gilly x

So sorry to read that you are going through this, and in hospital. It is such a shame especially as you have felt really well during the last year.I cannot offer you any advice regarding kidney stents, but feel sure someone will be along who may have had experience of this.

I wish you well, and hope that your stay in hospital will be short.

Sending hugs.x

Sending hugs and hope they can get this sorted out for you. Did the chemo cause this? Crossing fingers and toes they can do the stents or something. Xx

They are not sure what the cause is. Going down to theatre tomorrow to try and get stents inserted. Gilly x

Hi lockygill I had a stent fitted in my right kidney at the beginning of my treatment back in late 2020 and it helped drain my kidney. It worked although I felt like I needed to pee more. 9 months later they were going to change it but I questioned whether I still needed it. The doctor in charge of my stent change had a look at my last scan and said he didn't think I needed another stent but would decide after he took the existing one out. I woke up later and the doctor said to me I would be happy to know I didn't need a new stent because my kidney looked fine. Hope you have a similar positive experience, good luck 🤞 xxxx.
