Oncologist has asked to see my mum

Worrieddaughter95 profile image

Hi ladies I posted last week about my mums worries over lack of post chemo scans and ongoing ca125 checks.

Her oncologist had mentioned that the following day he would be attending a session with professors to learn more about the latest data in parps and maintenance. As much as we were saddened by him not having much faith in them for her circumstance I do appreciate that he is always willing to learn from others and keep updated.

Anyways he has rang her today and wants to see her. I can’t imagine he would waste an appointment reinforcing what he said before so I am now wondering whether he has had a maintenance treatment in mind given this seminar?

Xx

That sounds positive…as you say he wouldn’t ask to see her for nothing. I am guessing Avastin or perhaps a Parp if she is within 8 weeks of finishing chemo xx

She is starting zejula as he said new evidence presented to him last week at a conference suggests there may be some benefit in the frontline setting xx

I’ve heard this too. I’m on Zejula & have been for 2 years. It’s working for me & hopefully it will for your Mum too. It took a few months to get the right dose for me. Hope all goes well xx

Let's hope so. I've never heard of it but there's lots on things on here that mean nothing to me as not available when I had OC. All the best with it. xx

Sorry for the late reply, I have only just seen this. I've been fine with it, other than sensitivity to sun, i just wear a hat. Skin is a bit peely on hands. They check on me weekly and thankfully I've had no nausea or rise in blood pressure and bloods have been ok. Hope you manage to sort things for your mum xx
