It is World Ovarian Cancer Day so today there is an extra episode of “Living with Ovarian Cancer Podcast” to mark the event.
In this episode I talk to Katie Wilkins who was living her best life at university when she first had symptoms that led eventually to a diagnosis of Borderline Ovarian Tumours. Then 17 years later in 2020, Katie was young, newly married and loving her job when she had more symptoms which led to a mixed diagnosis Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer and Borderline Ovarian Tumours.
In this episode we cover fertility preservation surgery, chemotherapy and the impact on her Husband. We also giggle at the impact that the loss of nose hair, of all things, has on us!
We talk about the World Ovarian Cancer Day campaign which Katie and an incredible team of other women have worked on to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer symptoms, and the fact that women and younger people born with ovaries can be diagnosed with this disease.
Ovarian Cancer can strike at any age!
