You will see from my previous posts that my mums ca125 has been slowly rising since March 2021. It’s now 118 and our cns confirmed that it’s back in the abdomen. My mum has been referred to doctor Christina fotopoulou for potential second surgery. This appointment is tomorrow (Monday 31st Jan)
She was originally diagnosed in Jan 2019 with stage 3A. Cleared from Aug 2019.
Not really sure what to do or ask at this appointment. Has anyone seen her before? I hear she is great and we hope that the surgery goes ahead soon.
Any advice we can take with us? It’s my mums first recurrence.
Many thanks!

HiSorry to hear of your mums reoccurrence,I to am facing my first reoccurrence and out of interest how did you arrange the referral to Dr Christina please? I am in Cornwall. Thanks so much xx
Hi, sorry to hear this. We asked our onc to refer my mum for more surgery as it’s been 3 years since the last one. It happened to be dr Christina which we are so happy about. I do know there is a section on ovacome that helps you know how to get a second referral. You can ask your onc or your gp. Some women even go private to see her and pay £200/£300 consultation and get put on the nhs surgery list. I hope you get it sorted xx
As N-A-58 suggests in their reply to your question, Ovacome have a resource on getting a second opinion which may be of interest to you. It’s available through our website here: ovacome.org.uk/getting-a-se...

Very true. If she can't do the operation then I doubt very much whetger any one else can. Royal Marsden NrcVarton said no to me too dangerous and my obc said the Christie's said novtoi sane too dangerous
You can Ioay private which I know to see Christina us now £400. My oncogust said you will not get in any quicker to be if she refers n still and she inn duately sent by scabs off and people had an appointment with her within a week it was very quick as she sent by sxabsxabd nites to get there and then at my appointment when I was working ry oncologist re the news my lymph nodes were on the gallop again. I would not have hesitatef to pay the £400 though. Xx
