My mother had ovarian cancer in stage 2B in 2017.2021 may recurrence, now she has completed 7 courses of chemotherapy. her CA 125 from 230 dropped to 22.5 don't know if it's a good indicator or not, after the first chemo in 2017 her CA 125 was 12-14 and the average held it all years max was 18 but now it is 22.5. Tomorrow she goes to blood test and I have stress again, 4.11 ca 125 was 22.5, what to expect now? worried ... does anyone take any additional medications (non-chemical) recommended to mom mushrooms tablets Agaricus Blazei Murill do anyone have try?? Of course, this does not exempt from standard treatment, but for maintenance..

Unfortunately waiting for results is just really stressful! Your Mum has done really well so far…so there’s every reason to believe she will carry on that way. Don’t forget that one ca125 result on its own even between 18 and 22.5 doesn’t tell you much… it’s the direction of travel over several results: up down or stable that tells you what is going on with the disease.

Try if you can to enjoy your Mum’s recovery right now today and let go of what will happen tomorrow xx

Sorry that your Mum and you are going through this. Remember that chemo carries on working on the body long after the treatment and that marker may well have carried on coming down since the blood test. X

We put so much into the marker but I have been told up to 35 is within normal range. However I understand your concern that it has risen. I believe inflammation can affect 125 marker and it's possible the covid vaccination can according to previous posts . You must be guided by your oncology team as to how they are interpreting it and what they advise. Xx

There is a lot of waiting and seeing isn't there. It's very hard we just want action 'yesterday ' to ease our worrying heads. I suppose you have to put faith in the experts and try not to worry as they don't see the signs as needing 'urgent' attention yet. I hope you can get some respite from your worry over this latest development. X

It was 9 six months ago, then my hospital said ld been 2 years NED so it was 6 months checks instead of 3 months. I felt this wasnt safe for me knowing how quickly my C.A 125 had gone from normal to the thousands. So spoke to my GP who said he'd check them in between so had test Sept and it had gone to 17 which l know is absolutely fine. So had more blood tests last week and its gone to 21. again l know its not high but would like to be reassured about it and although the appointment l had with my own GP who's marvellous as been cancelled because of the covid booster program l have to see another GP at my practice l never go to be honest so lm hoping to have as much faith in this Doctor. So fingerscrossed. Sending love SheilaFxxx
