HiIt’s always worrying for us if our ca 125 starts to rise. Many things can actually cause it to increase particularly if yours is very sensitive to any inflammation or infection you may have.Having the COVID jabs have also increased some ladies ca 125.Have you asked your oncologist about whether they want to do a ct at this point? Or they might re check your bloods in a few weeks again to see if it has come back down and take things from there. How are you feeling? Do you have any symptoms?

Wishing you all the best try not to worry xx

My numbers have gone up also , sometimes it’s because there is an infection somewhere. My oncologist says he isn’t concerned as it’s still below 35 .I asked about a scan ,but he said it wouldn’t show anything. He always asks about symptoms.

It’s no use me saying try not to worry,

I am being checked every six weeks at the moment.

I hate this disease.

Hi there bethslife

I can see you’ve had some helpful and informative replies to your question but just wanted to share this resource about the role of CA125 which I hope may be helpful for you.

The Foundation for Women’s Cancer are a non-for-profit organisation based in the U.S, who support research, education, and public awareness of gynaecological cancers. They published a booklet in 2017 titled ‘CA-125 levels: Your guide’ which explains more about CA-125 and how it is used in a clinical setting. It’s available to view via their website here: foundationforwomenscancer.o...

The booklet explains that whilst CA125 can bring valuable insights, it is a non-specific marker that varies vastly from person to person. It highlights that CA125 can be raised for several reasons and is not always cause for concern. Please consider discussing this with your clinical team who will be able to give you tailored guidance based on your own individual circumstances. Please be aware that as this is a U.S resource, the organisations listed at the end may not be as relevant for our U.K/ non-U.S members.

If you would like to talk about this with a member of our support team, please give us a call on 0800 008 7054. We’re here to chat through anything that may be on your mind, Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.

Best wishes

Annie

HI - it is so worrying isn't it! Mine has crept up over six months but my scan is okay and my oncologist - who I really trust - is totally unconcerned as it is still only slight above normal. In his opinion, my scan and 125 tests are very reassuring. He has told me to not worry (!) and get on with my life, and they will keep an eye on me with regular blood tests.

Hopefully it is nothing but it will settle down for your again. x
