Hi. I know this happens with many people. Often it doesn’t come down until cycle 3.
Hi there. Yes it happened to me last year and initially I was told I was platinum resistant and pulled off treatment after cycle 2. My levels went from 200 to 1400. But while qualifying for a trial after a few weeks tested again and came down to 800 then of course pulled off trial to finish original treatment. Very stressful. Long story short… completed treatment NED since January 2021. This was my first recurrence. Now on parp trial. I did seek out 2 nd opinion from my surgeon and she thought should go at least 3 cycles Hope this helps. Good luck and stay positive. It’s a roller coaster ride 💜💜
Hi Ocean, thanks for your response. What kind of medication they give you for trial? Where was your first reoccurrence? You gave me hope that my reoccurrence can be cured. Thanks
the chemo was carbo/calex treatment. The maintenance that I am on is a part of the ICON9 trial here in Australia where i take a combo of Olaparib and Cediranib parps. My first recurrance happened about almost 2 years post my original debulking surgery. I am also BRACA negative.
So far no impact to CA125 but have a drop in magnesium levels and I hate them meds as hits with taste side effect.. just completed 3rd round of carbo/caelyx..had to take a 2 week breather as side effects kicked in but I also noted that my side effects kick in a week and hlf after the initial chemo.
Hi Marley, thanks for your response. Is your CA125 staying stable? R you getting it for reoccurrence? How long you were NED? Did you have any maintenence dose?
Yes it's stable but I had a issue which they were not aware my CA125 isn't correct in that there is a corruption, initially CA125 was steady at 3 then went up to 12 or something like that when i had the re-occurrence, it was 18 mths or so from the first one back in Jan 2020 .. have been lucky in that initial tumor and the cyst like tumour were removed successfully, both were cancerous. I didnt have alot of infusions this is the first on this re-occurrence but previous one had blood and magnesium few times due to tiredness, 4 hrs of infusion this Saturday for magnesium just makes me want to scream, ugh waste of 4 hrs.
The drop in magnesium will be the carboplatin unfortunately. Mine still aren't up to normal levels I sympathise it makes me feel so tired. They've sort of stabilised around 0.5. Now I'm on chemo again - carbo/gem - and everything has gone haywire and my platelets have tanked. So double whammy. There's always something isn't there.
Hi. I was on carbo/caelix last year. Caelix seems to kick in a bit late. My Ca125 started rising until 3rd/4th session then started dropping and counted to drop until well after I'd finished chemo. I gather this is quite common as caelix takes a while I'm told.
