Reoccurrence in Omentum

Did anybody get their partial omentum removed and then have reoccurrence in the remaining omentum?

If so, what was the treatment? Was it high grade serous? What was the initial stage at diagnosis? How effective was the treatment?

Thank you!! I appreciate any response!

Hi,Yes I had a small part of the omentum removed in 2015 along with my hysterectomy etc. I had endometrial cancer stage 2a grade 1b. I also had high grade serous in one fallopian tube, & the high grade type returned last year on the omentum. It probably would not have been picked up, but I had a colonoscopy & the surgeon asked for a CT scan directly following this & he was the one that informed me of the cancer on the omentum. My CA125 before I started the chemo was 532, but after 6 cycles of carbo/gemzar,it went eventually to 11. About 8 weeks after I finished the chemo I started on the parp Rucaparib & I have felt quite well. My CA125 has risen to 80 now, but my Oncologist has said to continue on the parp for now.

Thank you very much for Ur reply. Did they offer surgery for omentum for second time? How were Ur bowels(colon)?

No, I was not offered surgery a second time. I had 4 polyps in the bowel, which were found to be non cancerous thankfully.

Sorry to hear you have a recurrence .My diagnosis was high grade serous stage 3 ,I had a recurrence in my remaining omentum and peritoneum , I had six cycles of paclitaxol and Carboplatin , ,reduced it but not completely ,I then had Rucaparib for four months , sadly it didn't work for me ,I'm now on a six week break ,then will start chemo again , caelyx and Carboplatin, good luck with your treatment.

Yes had my ‘momentum ‘removed (presumed it was all) due to high grade serous stage 3 OC in December 2018. Since had 2 relapses, still under treatment, now taking Letrozole daily at home!!! Hope that helps, Iside

Hi, is Letrozole a pill? Do you have to pay for it? Thanks.

Yes, it’s a pill& No and don’t have to pay for it. It’s a Breast cancer Drug but because I am hormone sensitive (after menopause) they have put me on it. Tolerate it ok, having chat with Onco today after 1st 3 months of taking it!!! Fingers X . Iside

Hi, I was diagnosed in May 2019 High Grade Serous 3C. Full debulking in June 2019,including removal of Omentum and parts of Peritoneum followed by frontline chemo. Unfortunately one little lesion was missed on my liver but chemo shrank it.

Dec 2020 I started to get symptoms all around my abdomen and torso, but for months my CA125 was staying stable at 6. Later CT scan showed relapse; lesions on liver.

However, consultant says the lesions on liver is not the cause of the symptoms around ribs, sides and lower abdomen etc. She's not sure what it is but says it could be scar tissue. I'm not convinced it's scar tissue. I didn't have pain for many months then suddenly it started... and so i'm suspicious that it could be disease back on my Omentum.

I'd certainly be interested to hear of the treatment advised for you. Curious to know if second surgery would be appropriate to remove Omentum again?

Hi, My oncologist said surgery in not safe for me. I have reoccurrence in left overOmentum and caecum(beginning part of colon. I was Ned only for 7 months. I had one cycle of Carbo/caelyx. I think next one depends on my blood work. Thanks
