Can anyone tell me if they have had to ever change doctors? Because the doctor I have had so many people who see me it can get really confusing. And I can tell someone I have a problem and it oftentimes it seems like they are not listening. Its probably a real difficult thing to be an oncologist. For instance in February I had some pain they attributed to the chemo. Today 6 months later I went to clinic with that same pain and finally got someone to listen. I guess the tumor got bigger while I have been off chemo since April 30. but I have emails where the Doctor tells me not to worry about whatever that it is normal. Had surgery for a hernia may 5 so I had to heal and would have been too soon for treatment. . I feel that the place is a zoo. I start chemo next friday again. I am grateful for their help but walk out of there sometimes shaking my head.

I had this with another condition and chose to change hospitals. However it might be worth saying what you have just said to your nurse specialist or consultant. I know the feeling but they should listen! Good luck x
You always have the right to a second opinion on the NHS from a major cancer centre. If you are being treated at a general hospital, you may want to switch to a cancer centre. They are more specialised and more knowledgeable, and hopefully you'll get better continuity of care. You're the only one who can actually make the decision, but if I were you, I'd be looking to change hospitals.
Your GP can help you with this issue. Good luck
Hi there andyfay
Thank you for your post, I'm sorry to hear of these difficulties. I can see that you have had some helpful replies, but just in case you haven't already seen it, Ovacome has some information on how to obtain a second opinion available on our website here: ovacome.org.uk/getting-a-se.... If this is what you choose to do, I hope it will be helpful for you.

You don't have to have a specific question, we're happy to chat through anything that may be on your mind.

I had a wonderful oncologist but was in a small local hospital. I fought a second opinion in London, which has saved me so far. So yes, you can change, or add Drs to your treatment choices.
