Slight rise of CA125 within the normal range

Hello, ladies,

My mother is a stage 4 ovarian cancer survivor firstly diagnosed in December 2020.

She's currently on Lynparza (BRCA positive, started September 2020) and she feels good.

Right now I'm concerned about the very slight rise of her CA125. During her treatment, it went down from >3000 to 9. As she's on Lynparza, it has just steadily decreased during the months, but this month it is 10.2. Doc said it is normal, but I'm very concerned because I've read that it might indicate a recurrence. I want to do the right thing before things get worse. Have you experienced something similar? What's your advice? Thank you and I hope you're all enjoying your summer! Xx

I understand your fear but it’s the trajectory of a rising ca125 that would indicate recurrence, little rises and falls are normal. Hopefully it will be down again next time xx

Hi I have been on Lynparza for 7.5 years. My CA125 dropped from 7 to below 3 where it has remained albeit I did have one small rise similar to your mum's and obviously the first thought is that 'it's back' My nurse explained it away by saying it can sometimes be the way the result is read in the lab (different ppl). The next time I had it taken 12 weeks later it had dropped back to under 3 where it has remained. Unless the rise continues try not to worry too much xx Kathy xx
