Just finished up my 16 weeks of Taxol and now before I can get two more rounds the insurance wants me to get a CT Scan before they will pay for anymore. Which fingers crossed am NED and then to maintenance with my Parp.
On the flip side, last month my CA 125 was 11 and this month it is 25, am a little concerned. Did call my Oncologiat and he wasn't too concerned seeing that I am still below 35 and it isn't a trend. Plus this month getting over severe bladder irritation and twisted my knee.
Has any one else have a 14 point jump that much that didn't deal with cancer but more dealing with inflammation?
Thank you again my teal sisters for all of your wonderful insight, love and concern.
Cheers 🥂🥂

All fingers crossed, Shelly, and prayers that your scan shows NED. CA 125 can have a delayed response. I hope it is nothing to worry about and this increase in CA 125 is only due to the severe inflammation that was in your bladder. Happy Easter x
Yes mine was at 11 and jumped to 32. It was re-tested 3 weeks later and dropped back to 22, and then another month later and had dropped back to 11. I had bowel and constipation issues at the time, so can only assume that was the cause.
Hi ShellyMy ca125 is often up and down due to rheumatoid disease...so I suspect that a severe bladder infection might be responsible...hopefully you will see it reduces again now you are through the illness xx
It’s likely your bladder infection is the cause of the CA 125 increase. Inflammation or infection can increase the levels but I’m sure your oncologist will monitor you thoroughly. Well done with the weekly taxol, I hope your CT shows NED and you can get the remaining two doses followed by the parp.
Ahhh we are so lucky in UK in many ways. What happens if no insurance, is there a basic service? Good luck with CT scan Shelley, hopefully it's inflammation from bladder infefection x
Well...CA125 can fluctuate with inflammation but in re insurance taxol reduces and controls. Not necessary to be ned for it to work. I have 2 half inch tumors stable since september now switching to a hormone blocker so I can regain strength after 25 taxols. Hugsfrom france
My oncologist said fluctuation can occur because of any trauma to the body. Even a car accident can raise your number so your issues could easily be the reason for the number raising. Your knee and bladder could easily be the culprit!
Hi Shelly,In April of last year I had Covid and my CA125 rose from 18 to 39. As you can imagine, I was very concerned. However, as my symptoms finally disappeared, my CA went back down to 17!
My Oncologist just monitored me ( I was having monthly bloods because I’m on Olaparib ) and says this happens with many infections in the body.
Hopefully, that’s what yours is too, sounds very likely.
