Hi, I had womb cancer as well as OC and had external pelvic radiotherapy for that after chemo. I went every day for five weeks and whilst it’s a bit of a chore going backwards and forwards, the treatment itself is very short and it was nearly as long getting the positioning correct each time as the treatment. I can’t advise you what to do but the percentages for me were a no brainer for trying to keep it away forever x
No not at all. I was tired but not in the bone crunching way of chemo. As it was in the pelvic region I did have some diarrhoea but was able to keep it under control with medication x
I think since you have several locations that is the reason for the time frame. I just got mapped to start radiation in a month. 5 sessions but just one nodule in the node. I have osteo also but am glad it's available as surgery is not an option. Good luck from paris
Hi. Here we can't take nsaids if on blood thinners which I am so I do exercises 3 dogwalks a day some yoga if pain won't go away 1g of tylenol but almost never and lidocaine patch I put on lower back.
I had a friend with breast cancer who had radiotherapy every day for 5 weeks, so that length of time is not unusual at all. As Ruebacelle said, the actual radiation doesn't last long each time, the worst thing is having to go there every day.
As for osteoarthritis, well chemotherapy aggravates that too, which I believe you have already had. Really, its for you to decide - what happens if you don't have the treatment has to be set against having the treatment, that's the decision really... Good luck
If it were me, I would take whatever I needed for the pain for that limited amount of time. If your doctors are willing to prescribe something stronger in order to keep you as comfortable as possible, and then taper down when the radiation is over, it may well be worth it.
Please can I ask, I have some enlarged ganglia next to the aortic artery, behind the bowel. Offered surgery and chemo, but radiotherapy was not considered as an option. Why were you offered radiotherapy instead of chemo? Just for me to understand the different usage. Thanks xx
