Why am I gaining so much weight since chemo and op 9 months ago

Steroids? I think they are often responsible for stimulating your appetite and I do find that I eat more beige carbs on chemo. xx

You are exactly right but finished chemo in July albeit as I was on trials I had avastin which I finished in March so at a bit of a loss as my appetite has decreased

I asked my oncologist about my weight gain. He just said that’s his fault for giving me steroids. I think the steroids in chemo make you hungry tooAngela xx

Now that's a question I have asked myself many times over the last 13.5 years. I can't decide whether it's the op, chemo, trials I have been on, old age...... what I do know is it doesn't seem to be going anywhere no mater how hard I try and believe me I have tried. Hospital don't seem concerned, in fact the only time they have shown concern was when I did manage to lose a stone in between appointments and I got quizzed. I've sort of given up worrying, at least I'm still here!

Me too. I read that average weight gain for a woman post chemo is 8 lbs. I think the toxic drugs do a number on our metabolism, maybe that’s part of the fatigue too.

Thanks for replying. Like you I am eating less have always ate healthlyCannot u derstand why weight gain as not had chemo for 9 months.
