Well got worst news today stage 4c I think they said it was and it has spread to my lungs around heart and arm pits so surgery is not a option for me so I’m going to have some chemo to see can they shrink it so in about 18 weeks I should know my faith sorry for being on such a downer xx

I’m so sorry that you have received unwelcome news, Polo. I had surgery, followed by chemo. I expect you will soon hear from others who had chemo-surgery-chemo. Most women go into a period of remission following front-line chemo. I know you must be terribly down after the news. I hope your spirits will lift a bit after chemo. Here’s hoping the chemo has the desired result. Best wishes from Louisiana,

Sashay

My thoughts are with you polo2014. I do so hope chemo will shrink your cancer sufficiently for your oncologist to reconsider the surgery option. I had chemo first because of the extent of the mass and lesions (although it hadn’t spread to my chest) and the shrinkage was significant.

I hope yours will be too.

Sending hugs,

Iris 🤗🤗

A number of women who had to have chemo to shrink tumors before they could have surgery are doing well today. So don't give up.

Hi PoloI just had a look back at your posts and you have had a terrible time where the news seems to have just kept getting worse for you xx. My way of coping is now to see this as day 1 in the fight back! turn your thoughts around and prepare to take the control back . Chemo is your ally not your enemy and together you will fight the cancer. A positive mindset is really important now i think otherwise you are fighting against your body, our natural instincts are to survive so work with that. I had some hypnotherapy from my cancer centre and we worked on imagining the chemo finding and destroying the cancer as it went in, for me it helped, others will have good tips too.

This is your reality now take control dont give in as the alternative is not an alternative at all! Its time to prepare for the fight of your life xx

Hope that helps and we are all with you

Good luck

Diane

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you'll have great results from the chemo and only hear reassuring news in 18 weeks. One day at a time. Meanwhile, keep strong and have a mind that is ready to fight. You can do it xxx

Hi mine is in my lungs and the fact that they are offering you a long chemo is positive I am on my last chemo which only had a thirty percent chance of working like you I am very scared. Best wishes, sorry I don’t have any helpful hunks or tips - Ovacome are running an end of life zoom group which is very good

Hi Polo2014Sorry to hear your news. I was in a very similar situation at the beginning of my treatment. I had lung and lymph nodes involved and the cancer was looped around my intestines. I had 4 chemo and surgery.....all very successful. Two more rounds of chemo mopped up the remaining microscopic bits.

Then I had almost 5 years in remission.

My point is that, although this is not the news you wanted, first line treatment has a good success rate and we now have some good maintenance drugs....take heart! I even found some stage 4 people who had survived long long term when I went searching. So give yourself a big hug from me and pull on your big girl pants...one day at a time you will get through this xx

Lyndy that must really lift Polos spirits as it does mine. You are always so positive and a light goes on in me when I read your posts. X

Please be kind to yourself & allow yourself to feel how you feel & let those emotions out. It’s shocking to hear & understandable to feel low. You’ll get through the chemo. As previously mentioned, try to take one day at a time ( easier said than done I know).

I used to sing “ I’m going to wash that cancer right out of my body” when showering. Sounds silly but made me feel better.

You take care & keep us posted.

With love & virtual hugs

Lynne xx

Don't ever apologize for how you feel ,that's what we're here for ,good news and not so good . Have a good cry rant and rave ,scream and shout ,you don't have to be brave all the time. One day at a time ,do some thing nice every day ,have a walk ,eat a massive bar of chocolate ,leave the jobs and binge watch something , may seem pointless but will make you feel a little better.

Once you start treatment you'll have not only us ladies around you but chemotherapy nurses and your team ,I'm sure there were things you didn't ask your oncologist, have you been given a cancer nurse specialist yet if so ring her with questions ,if not call your oncologists secretary and ask her to pass on any questions , I made myself sick with worry over something for two weeks ,my CNS sorted me out in five minutes, you can also call the nurses on this site .

Good luck with your chemo ,its shite at times but you feel you're doing something .

Sorry that things seem so bad. I try to work on the mantra"you can't change the past, nobody knows what the future holds so live for today". This has helped me through some of my darkest days.

Hi lovely,

I'm so sorry to read this but please know there is always hope, my mother in law was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer in 2015 she got told by the surgeon she'd live 6 months with chemo she was also told surgery would never be an option due to the spread etc, she had 6 rounds of chemo and the following December had surgery she fought for 4 years with various reoccurrences before sadly gaining her teal wings but I tell her story as often as possible so people know there is always hope no matter how small xx

I am in a very similar situation to you except I have had my 18 weeks of carbo/taxol. Things have shrunk and C125 down to 24. I feel well and am now starting on niraparib as a maintenance plan. Fingers crossed we both have a long and happy road ahead x

Hi, I was initially inoperable and had 4 x chemo. I had surgery after 4 chemos on basis that surgery may or may not be possible. So I may have been woken up after just 45 mins if surgeon decided not feasible but instead woke up after about 11 hours with all visible cancer removed. I know it's so , so hard but try to hold your nerve, have the chemo and we will all be hoping that things change xxx

I too was also initially inoperable but after 4 chemo it was decided to go ahead. It may well be the same for you.

Hi, I had 4 rounds of chemo, surgery ( major) and then another 3 rounds of chemo before starting a parp med. My cancer was all in the abdominal region. Sorry that you have to wait and see what the chemo can do. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Donna xx
