Has anyone had a back of one leg pain after the 1st dose of the Pfizer vaccine? I have had this pain soon after the shot on Feb. 26. It doesn’t bother me at night, but is troublesome when I walk. It came on within hours of the shot. It’s in the upper calf and behind the knee. I hate the thought of getting the second jab next week Friday. I’m going to talk to the nurse the day before when I have a dr.’s visit. Dread the thought of what could happen after the second dose. Nothing else bothered me very much, just a sore arm and a little tired. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem with the vaccine. Donna

Side effects after Pfizer jab
I forgot to mention that my leg is not hot or swollen, so it isn’t a blood clot. This goes away when I go to bed. It must be a muscular issue. Donna
Hi DonnaI would get this checked out because I think I remember one of the jabs carrying a slight risk of blood clots...I don’t want to alarm you and I really can’t remember the deets so it may not be this one but a chat to the nurse wouldn’t go amiss xx
Hi Lyndy, I have a dr.’s appt. coming up this Thursday and I will mention this to them. A while back I had a pain in my calf and got checked out for a blood clot. It was negative. This was before my covid shot. I am on Zejula and that parp can cause muscle and joint aches. My nurse told me that there was never a study on the covid vaccine with cancer meds, but she advised me to get the shot. She said it would be better to get one than to get the virus. Anyway, I will look into what vaccine might cause a blood clot, interesting. Thanks Lyndy for your message, much appreciated. 🥰. Donna
Hi, I’m also on Zejula & have had first Pfizer jab, my second one is tomorrow. I haven’t had any muscle aches in my legs at all. The person below that there was talk of a small risk of clots with one of the jabs, that was the Astra Zeneca/Oxford one. But docs in the UK are saying that it is just co-incidental on timing & that no more people have a clot compared to those unvaccinated, apparently lots of people get them each year. I myself had a clot on my lung & leg about 8 weeks after debulking surgery & am on permanent blood thinners. Certainly worth getting it checked as these things can be very dangerous. Good luck 🤞
Get it checked out now ! I had a DVT no swelling or heat !! But painful on standing and walking !!
Better to be safe than sorry.
(Mine wasn’t related to jab it was a few months ago )
I had an awful pain in my left ankle and foot after the Oxford jab. First the chills then a couple of days later a rash and this odd pain. It kept me awake all night then went away.
None of the vaccines so far has blood clots as possible adverse events; incidence of those with the AZ jab (or any other) has been no more than would be expected in the population normally, with no vaccine, as Lonsdale says - the 'test' you can do yourself if you think you might have a clot in your leg is to raise the front of your foot up towards the shin - if you're screaming (literally, not just groaning a bit which you might if its muscular) when you do that, or can't manage it at all because of the pain, its more likely to be a clot. And you obviously can't walk normally with a clot and yes, the pain from a clot goes away when the leg is elevated overnight. I only know this because I've had 7 of them over the years, totally unrelated to cancer... If you've had the pain for a fortnight or so and the leg is not by now swollen or more painful, it's probably not a clot, but if you're concerned, get it checked out..

Hi Miriam, thankyou for your information. It is much appreciated. You have been through a lot with having 7 of them over the years. So sorry that you had to go through that. Hope things get better for you. Take care, Donna
Oh its fine, thanks, I haven't done too badly having had so many clots. I've been on permanent blood thinners for at least 20 years or more, so haven't had one for some time. It's a genetic clotting problem - my dad didn't do so well, he kept coming off his blood thinners and ended up, after ignoring the pain in his leg, with a clot on the lung... definitely something I wanted to avoid. The wonders of modern medicine... I wouldn't be here probably if it were not for that.Hope that pain in your leg resolves...
Miriam
Yes talk to nurse. Sore arm...the shot is in muscle sio flex your arm up and down for several minutes to avoid soreness
Hi Ruebacelle, thanks for your message. I will do that when I get the second dose. Donna
