Hi, please help. My friend needs to use Olaparib in Turkey for her secondary ovarian cancer and she is BRAC positive.

Hello Ranayap, my only thought is to get in touch with the Support Team at Ovacome; they have many contacts and knowledge. This link gives you the options for talking with them:-

Olaparib/Lynparza is manufactured by AstraZeneca. Perhaps your friend's oncologist could contact them and ask for their help with this regard.

Dear Ranayap,

Thank you for getting in touch with your query. Thanks too to lesleysage and Newbie_2020 for your helpful replies.

In addition to the contact details that @Newbie provided, you could also try contacting Astrazeneca's UK medical information team on 01582 838000.

All the very best with your research, please do get in touch if we can help in any other way.

Best wishes,

You won't be able to "just" buy it. If it's not licenced in Turkey the distributor will not import it; to get it, she would need a certified prescription, based on a request by her oncology team, supported by a current blood test, signed approval from the appropriate pharamacy; and all of this predicated by her meeting a certain set of criteria.

I had all of the above, but family matters, and the COVID virus, caused me to be marooned in Australia, where my particular drug, Niraparib, is not licenced for use, is classified as an S4 Poison, and is simply not imported here by the only licenced distributor. It was a very distressing situation - everyone was willing to try and help, but the bottom line was that it just wasn't going to happen.

The Australian government is in the process of considering Niraparib for the PBS and my oncologist said it should only take 2 months. So let’s hope that’s the case.

That is brilliant news! Do you happen to know what the situation is in New Zealand? I know that another poster is located there and does not have any access to PARP inhibitors.

Sorry I don’t know about New Zealand. I am presently on Olaparib and monthly infusion of Avastin. No side effects. Only one month in. I was diagnosed December 2015. 3c ovarian cancer. Three months Carbo/taxol then 6hour op. Removing spleen, gall bladder, appendix, part of bowel and slice off my liver. 3 more months chemo then 6 months Avastin. Two more chemo including Carbo/gem. Now last chemo 5 cycles Carbo/taxol which was much harder to get through than the first, but finished mid January. CA125 was 11 so happy. Now started new regime, so much easier on my body than chemo. Can only hope this keeps me in remission. I’m lucky to have had five years. Good luck and best wishes to all going through these hard times.
