Covid immunisation

I had a telephone consultation with my CNS yesterday, and asked her for guidance regarding the advisability of people in cancer treatment having the vaccine.

She said that just the previous day they had been told that their patients should be advised to have the immunisation when offered.

Thanks very much, Jenny, for this heads up. Did she mention what version/brand of the available vaccines is suitable for people like us, those who are on treatment and with low immune system?

We'll wait to see what my trust says.

I think she was referring to the current Phizer vaccine. I believe the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine is live and not suitable for us.Jenny

I don't think any if the vaccines in trials are live. Bottom line- they are all demonstrated to be safe, but not be as effective if low immune system. I intend to have the vaccine when offered, but not to assume immunity and continue being prudent

Hi Jenny

I was watching TV this morning and one of the questions they ask is if you have had an allergic reaction to anything. I have had a grade 3 anaphylactic shock to Carbo so I probably can't have the Pfizer vaccine. Even though I am on a Parp Inhibitor my GP does not accept I am at clinically extremely vulnerable and says I am low risk even though my Oncologist has told her I am very high risk..... go figure , looks like I won't be being offered a vaccine any time soon anyway!
